I had to wiggle it a bit.
You can remove the drums on the rear and get a better view of the procedure, as the clips are the same.

I did take the drum brake end of the cables with a small clamp. Came right out. Still having issues with the chassis end. " I wiggled till I can't wiggle no more!" I'll keep playing with it.

Well, I went to a 1/2" plastic piping and honed out the center a bit. The OD barely fit inside the chassis hole, but I honed out the ID enough to get it over the cable. It fit snugly, but it did release the cables from the chassis.

Finally, a success!
