    Gary,
Thanks for posting the code of ethics.

"• I shall never criticize, condemn, or otherwise denigrate a member of the organization,
an employee of the organization or a Board member while in the presence of other
    members of the organization."

Now if this is in the code of ethics as Gary has posted, I would humbly suggest some people ask if this applies to them.

        Re: Change

Shannon, the difference is they were not the President of the organization in any of those positions you can site. Being a board member or a team leader is not being the President of the organization.

I do applaud you and wish you success as our President.

I do not think your ascension to the Presidency was handled properly and I feel for Mike Ingham and the disgraceful way this was presented to him.

10-4 and I have long thought (no disrespect to anyone involved present or past) that the President of NCRS should not also be allowed to hold a Regional Director position within the NCRS organizational structure. Another potential COI IMHO
          thx,

This has been an argument of mine as long as I have been in NCRS. President Joe Biden (nor any other Chief Executive) was not allowed to retain his Senate seat when elected president. The NCRS president should be a non-voting member of the board.

I could not agree more, Roy. I was there at the coup in Williamsburg and also remember the long board meetings by phone that Dick sat in on when your fate was being weighed. Mike Ingham certainly deserved better than this treatment when he and others have struggled mightly to keep NCRS functioning during the last two years. I challenge those who voted against him to present what he could have done better.

The following is JMHO> Being a long time member of the NCRS I also think this was handled very bad. Do not know Mike Ingham
or Shannon Urton but Shannon should have never accepted this position under these circumstances. Larry

                    ^^^THIS^^^

Mike inherited a tough set of problems when he became President. He rose to the occasion and solved them. No one could have done better and most would have done worse ...by far.

And for that, he's tossed out like yesterday's trash?

                    Shame on NCRS. Shame!

                            Re: Change

Now that some of the members who wanted to vent because of the election methods and actions taken by a majority of five directors independently of the other four directors, the question is: Now what? Every NCRS member who chooses to volunteer their time, effort, skills, experience and passion for our organization by being a candidate for a chapter or regional position is required to declare their candidacy and perhaps some sort of statement by the specified deadline. The only notable exception is the highest elected office in NCRS. It seems reasonable that the NCRS By-Laws should be amended to require that any director who wants to declare as a candidate for NCRS President should be required to file a statement at least 30 days before the board meeting. This should be a very public statement so not only the directors have some lead time but also the general membership has a chance to provide input directly to their own regional director (not on this forum) to voice any concerns, objections, conflicts of interest, etc. well before the fact. At the very least, this would prevent any future last second surprises and permit ALL NINE of the directors to be well informed and prepared to vote with adequate information.

Will this subject quietly go away into the cloud or will there be an opportunity at the membership meeting at this year’s National Convention to address it directly with the board members assuming there will be a Q & A session or an open floor for discussion topics. This all comes down to how many attendees want this change for future elections and what you are prepared to do about it. If this does get some public traction at the convention and many members contact their own director to make a motion and/or vote to update the bylaws, maybe we can see some improvement in the process. Just my .02.

                              Excellent suggestion.

This is not a good situation as it currently stands.
