Some 1115207 service replacement coils used a label over a embossed 3 digit number. Parts books say the embossed number is typically "176". e.g. HERE.
A reference HERE states the 1115207 replaced the 1115176 in Nov 1965.
I found a reference for a 1115437 coil. HERE The 1115437 was superseded by the 1115207. Date unknown.

I suggest you use a ohm meter to measure the input resistance. Excluding meter lead error, the reading should be in the range of apx 0.5 ohms.
It appears your labeled 207 may be one of those early service replacements. But it should have been disclosed that what you were sent was not what was pictured. If it is within spec it may be functionally fine but just not TFP. I would trust that more than a reproduction as you researched.
On a side note, the 263 was never available in service at it was only used in production. If that is a original 263 you sent to Dave I would recommend you get it back for future testing and analysis. The "may be bad" statement needs to be confirmed or not by testing on a know good TI system in a car under normal operating conditions of time and temperature. Original functional 263 coils are extremely rare and very valuable. My experience has seen them in the $1k+ range.

Interesting! So it appears it is somewhat of a rare coil.
I spoke to the business I purchased the 437 and they apologized, and they are sending me a "restored" 207 coil and giving me some store credit which I am ok with.
Tim, are you saying to hang on the to the coil in case I need an extra in the future? or because of the 437 rarity?- Top

well, they have sent out the above pictured coil and I still have the NOS 437 coil which apparently will work.
Who would have thought buying a coil would be so complicated? Welcome to the corvette restoration world!- Top

Hi Tim, you are correct, they said they actually opened the box before they shipped just to check it for damage. The pull string was still in the box.
I spoke to Dave Fiedler today and he said he doesn't know much about the 437 except that it is supposed to be the same internals as the 207 just like what you said.
I haven't sent it back yet but I am considering keeping it.
To confuse things more, Dave F. said that my 263 does have continuity when tested and resistance checked out ok.
Maybe I start hoarding coils lol- Top

Joseph, Someone may have overtighted the nut in the past. I think the primary terminal studs have a serrated collar which was molded into the bakelite top when they were made. The stud that's loose may be remedied by a dab of super glue around the joint then a very thin nut to keep it from moving. Another option is to use the 294 Green Loctite made for assembled fasteners.
I'd certainly try to salvage that one as it may be fine. Just be real easy when the wires are attached. Just snug.
I would use that 263 just for judging to save it and swap it out with one of those 207's for driving or PV, etc.

This one went for $250 a few months ago. I often wondered why there were so many configurations of the 207. Debossed, labeled over debossed, silkscreened. Geesh. Hard to keep track.

And I noticed that coil in the picture has what appears to be brass terminals vs zinc/silver for the one I received?This one went for $250 a few months ago. I often wondered why there were so many configurations of the 207. Debossed, labeled over debossed, silkscreened. Geesh. Hard to keep track.
