    67 tank sticker question

    Hello All
    I am trying to find out info on some # and letters on the partial tank sticker that came out of my 67 coupe vin 116470. I am the second owner, bought the car in 1983.
    There is a code listed after the Comfort & Con listings. I need help in what do they represent ?? __EQ J 08

    I can't make it out, but do you think there is an RPO code to the left, on the other side of the vertical line?

        TankStickerClaudette copy.jpgI have noticed on some tank stickers the last line on the sticker, without an RPO code to the left of the vertical line, is sometimes for special instructions, one of mine said: "PLS RUSH"

              I don't think so, my '67 in the tank sticker above, has N14, but no instructions like that below on the bottom.

                c46-5full.jpgI have seen some others with the SEQ numbers, I don't know what they mean, like this one:

                  Wild guess: Could it have to do with sequencing instructions for Smith and St Louis bodies into chassis operations ?

                    Re: 67 tank stricker question

                    Nothing definitive... just a wild guess, solely based on SEQ letters, and expected production dates:
                    I'm thinking the letter might signify a MONTH... and then a running/increasing log number.
                    If there was some issue... perhaps the vehicle was held, and the build sequenced (SEQ) again.

                    As a further stupid guess, is it possible your Corvette was built in/about the MARCH-APRIL time frame?
                    (not sure if they skipped some letters, as they did with parts dating)
                    Then again I could be totally off base... in that case, I'll gladly refund your $$$, with proof of purchase.

                    ----------------

                    Itz too late for me... I didn't realize you posted your VIN, so I'm guessing the 'J' represents your APRIL build.

                      My low optioned L79 67 produced 10-12-66 tank sticker is blank and has no code.

                        Re: 67 tank sticker question

                        I'm certainly no expert, but carefully reviewing a couple hundred 1967 tank sticker images (saved for a different research project), I noted that the SEQ notation was seldom seen. With thorough scrutiny, I could see a pattern between the SEQ 'LETTER' and production date. Unfortunately, one tank sticker had a TYPO in the Expected Date of Production, so that threw me off for a while... and I also calculated the letter 'I' was NOT utilized.
                        1967 SEQ references:
                        Aug=A

                        Sep=B

                        Oct=C

                        Nov=D
                        Dec=E
                        Jan=F

                        Feb=G

                        Mar=H

                        Apr=J
                        May=K
                        Jun=L
                        Jul=M

                        I've seen varying notations in the same area where the SEQ data was placed... as Mike pointed out, some are 'Special Instructions'.
                        There were a few shipping directions... most seemed to be a courtesy drop, to another dealership.
                        Some notations were for 'Plant Delivery', and one carried reference to a 'Shriner' build.

                        I really don't believe the SEQ was anything significant/special... as I said earlier, just a running log.
                        (and I don't believe the number was a DATE, as one number exceeded the dayz in a month)
                        It could a been a build issue, causing a slight delay... or maybe it was a vehicle used for post evaluations.
                        We may never know their exact reference... unless a log book is discovered, or a former line worker can have their memory jogged.

                          Thank you Jack for your input. Your opinion is valuable since you've been a member of NCRS for a long time.
                          Thank you for your chart which would support my car's tank sticker. Your J referencing April coincides with my VIN build date.
                          Trim tag stamped May 5th.
                          According to the NCRS judging standards my tank sticker does not have enough info (order date or the expected delivery date) to unequivocally connect it to my car.
                          A little history: I bought the car in 1983, an original paint, motor and interior, not having any knowledge about motor codes, dates or the tank sticker. Around 1985 I learned about a tank sticker and the car had a partial on the tank so at the time I decided to keep the car. I pulled out the tank put in a new tank and put the original tank with the partial sticker in storage. I am thinking about going through the judging process and want to get as much info about the tank sticker as I can. If possible can you take the time to research your tank order images and select the J's out, send me copies to help me support my case. If I can show that more J coded orders produced cars in April it would definitely help my cause. Thank you again, James Henry, (61744)

                            What "cause" are you referring to? Tank stickers are not a judged item.

                              Also because it was a Factory 390 to 400HP engine , it may have been sequenced to be produced with other 400HP vehicles that month. just my view.
