...It looks like they greased the ball joints and tie rods every service, but never wiped any excess grease off. It migrated everywhere. Just mitigating the grease-balls so I didn't step in them and track them every where took time. I hate cars that are this greasy and dirty.

The good news is all that grease prevented oxidation and preserved the finishes.

T -0. Today is load-up day. Alas, the 92 is not making the trip. Saturday, I went down the entire Ops sheet, and the Back up lights and 3rd brake light don't work. Anyone with experience with the ZF 6-speed knows about the b/u light switch on the trans. And guys with extensive C4 experience know about the switch under the dash for the 3rd brake light. I don't have the parts on hand, both of these are fussy to replace, and I don't have the time. 25 points is more than this car can absorb and still be where I wish to be. I made huge improvements in 3 weeks, but it needs more attention before it comes to an NCRS event. I remained optimistic to the very end, but the reality is that it isn't ready to spend $1,000 in diesel (over driving something else on gasoline) to drag it 3,000 miles.

I thank all of you for the encouragement and well wishes. I enjoyed doing this thread. Thanks.

I'm still coming. I like a good steak, the Texas Regional is a favorite of mine, and I am looking forward to seeing ya'll.

I am sad, as I am sure you are also. I was so looking forward to chatting about Gen II Lt1s. I wanted to see some of the differences between the Y body & B body installation, especially in the early Y body year. Perhaps another time. We can still chat, but without the example at hand the conversation will be less animated. We do need to carve out some time for ourselves though. See you Soon.
