    Selling a Corvette on line

Any suggestions about how to sell a Corvette on line besides the NCRS classified ad section?

          Dave,

I just sold my 1963 coupe on BAT. Great experience. You'll need to put up with the idiotic comments from tire kickers and non-bidders. The BAT staff was great to deal with and you can't beat the $99.00 cost to you as the seller.

Yes BaT works, you just have to put up with a staff that doesn't know Corvettes and will call your knock-off wheels "finned turbine style alloy wheels". They also want to set the reserve as low as possible, so that it sells and makes them money.

Yes, the BAT staff are not experts, but very accommodating. They wanted me to set a low reserve, but I insisted on keeping the reserve that I wanted and they went along with it. So hold your ground on the reserve you're comfortable with and you're car will sell.

BaT was a good experience for me. I sold a Lance Reventlow Scarab replica, and they accepted the reserve easily. I hired their photographer, and it was well worth the price for his professionalism. They did start pressuring me to lower the reserve a few days before the end of the auction, but it ended up sailing way past the reserve for a clean sale.

I agree with all the others. You get the full selling price.

I will also congratulate BaT for the quickest transport I ever got. Within hours of me finalizing payment for a car I bought there, their transporter was loading it up and I got it the next day.

If you use BaT, be sure to take at least 200 photos, and more if able.
Use a lift to get proper chassis pictures.

I don't buy/sell cars often so I'm not an expert. But I'm surprised that BaT seems to be a standout favorite. I've used eBay Motors and Hemmings on both sides of the sale several times and had positive experiences.

It does seem the quality of Corvettes for sale on these sites is lower than a few years ago. I get the feeling the best cars change hands privately.

I mentioned BaT as some folks I know have sold their Corvettes at STUNNING prices (stunning at least to me).

(Almost DOUBLE their reserve in one instance - and I thought their reserve was optimistic!)

Both were Mid-Year. Seems like a seller's market lately.

Nominal prices are high, but remember we live in the day of $180 two-star motels and $45,000 Honda Civics.

That would depend greatly on the rarity and desirability of the car. The rarer and more desirable cars move well, like the $360K for a '63 SWC fuelie, red/red. But more mundane and common C2s and C3s are really not breaking the bank.
