If he wants to drive the car, my suggestion would be to obtain a NEW Holley SERVICE carb. In fact, I'd leave this on the car indefinitely for driving. NOTHING makes a car run like a new carburetor. NOTHING.

Then, the original carb can be repaired/restored with no time crunch. Keep it for judging purposes. After all, it's pretty easy to remove and re-install a carburetor.
Thats what I did. My original was plum wore out with a warped and pitted main body and sloppy throttle body bores-Expect to say ouch when you see the price. My only regret is not doing it a lot sooner.

I can't fine a current Holley that appears to be a direct fit service carb (divorced choke, correct cfm).

      Anyone know of one?

I think it's a correctly dated (or redated) center section with the rest of it being service replacement.
I've already let the owner know this, but it still leaks.

I think you had a good idea that was not appreciated. If the adjustable float bowls are still available, they would be a good permanent fix for the OPs service replacement carb in my opinion. They are functionally superior. The new service carbs are extremely expensive, and the OPs carb looks pretty new and probably works well except for a defective bowl.

Holley sells new almost exactly like original 4150, 4160 carbs through a place in OP Alabama. Later I can find address if you like.
