Re: 1967 Holley 3810 fuel bowl leak
Those welch plugs are pretty infamous for leaking. Though, not NCRS correct, I had mine restored by Phil Cancilla @ Custom Rebuilt Carburetor in New Jersey. He uses an epoxy resin to seal them. They don't leak.Attached FilesLeif

Patrick-------
Well, if you're a Q-Jet guy you ought to understand this problem very well. These plugs on a Holley fuel bowl are the same type of "spun-in" plugs used on the float bowl assembly of Q-Jets on the forward side of the inlet fitting and in four locations on the bottom of the float bowl. The only way I know of to repair them is with epoxy as Leif has mentioned.
These plugs usually consist of a small, slightly tapered plug with an o-ring seal and a "spun in" retainer on the outside surface. It's the retainer that's the problem with a repair; once it's removed I know of no way to replace it. With an epoxy repair, the plug and retainer are usually removed and replaced with epoxy. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I had thought about sending the carb to Phil, but the owner was hoping to drive the car a bit this summer. I think Phil is about 2 months out.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: 1967 Holley 3810 fuel bowl leak
Patrick-------
If he wants to drive the car, my suggestion would be to obtain a NEW Holley SERVICE carb. In fact, I'd leave this on the car indefinitely for driving. NOTHING makes a car run like a new carburetor. NOTHING.
Then, the original carb can be repaired/restored with no time crunch. Keep it for judging purposes. After all, it's pretty easy to remove and re-install a carburetor. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1967 Holley 3810 fuel bowl leak
Not the same Holley list #s as yours, but Craig Woodruff (Youngstown, OH) did my 3x2s 20 years ago...
no deducts thru 1 Regional and a National after rebuild/restoration.
Nice original-looking patina and they Still work fine...
thx,

Re: 1967 Holley 3810 fuel bowl leak
Patrick,
Give Phil or Joe a call @ (732) 356-4333. I think you'll find you can get the carb back in a much shorter time...probably less than a month.Leif

Re: 1967 Holley 3810 fuel bowl leak
Leif,
I can see you have replaced POA or earlier type AC valve with the "POA upgrade" pressure sensing sensing system. How is this working? I have had one for 12 years, worked fine till 2 years ago, now either bad pressure sensing switch or bad expansion valve. I plan on first replacing pressure switch with a thermostat that turns compressor on and off=also sold by Old Air and see what happens.
Thanks- Top

The A/C system on my car had been converted to R134 before my ownership over 12 years ago. The system works just fine...when I use it. Typically, I'm a two window down, ride around kind of guy. I rarely (like maybe 3 or 4 times) have used the A/C since I've owned her.Leif

Patrick, I think the 3810 you have pictured is a service replacement carburetor.- Top
