My 1971 is very original. Even has original fan belts, mufflers with blackout, and hoses. It’s a rough car on the outside , but extremely original and has been great as a reference for my other cars.

My L71 is almost done, and it’s also being put back to original. The prior owner threw away the F41 components, used a lot a hardware store stuff that I have changed over to original with the help of David Sokoloski.

My 69 L89 is a complete project. It supposedly was a Motion conversion but I have no paperwork, only verbal from family members and previous owners.
I have sourced almost every single item to put this car back to original, including quarters and front fenders.
The car was heavily raced and is missing its entire drivetrain. But it is a documented L89 with Sidepipes and heavily optioned.
However, in the interest of time, I’m thinking of keeping the flares and going back to the Motion theme that was on the car. Every rare Motion item came with the car and it would certainly expedite the process of putting it back together.

This new car is going back to original, but the goal is to be able to drive it asap.

Funny thing is, other than driving my 71 half a block before the rear end bound up, I’ve never even driven a Corvette!
3 of my best friends in HS had Corvettes while I had a beat up Volkswagen they called “Baby Huey”.
Im still great friends with these guys, in fact, one of them drove cross country to pick up my L71 with me.
They think I’m nuts as does my wife and kids. My kids keep wanting to know why I keep “buying cars that don’t drive”

picked these up the other day!

As you may know, assembly line work is monotonous...you can really "zone out" after doing the same thing over and over again...

I don't know how many '68 F41s were made...maybe they ran out of (or somebody forgot to reorder) the F41s around when your car was built ?

Although not a Frame Upside Down Chassis line issue, another interesting thing is your job number got changed (175 overwritten on the 187 below)...is that shot on the firewall ?

There should be a job number handwritten on your tank sticker...is there enough left of it to see the handwritten number ?
If so, what is it ?

        Happy Thanksgiving !
        Happy Thanksgiving Mark!
The tank sticker was super crumbly.
I’m lucky to have remaining what I do. Nothing handwritten left.
I did find this tank frame stencil though.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone as well!

My '72 has the job number written on the passenger side of the trans tunnel too.

Re: 1968 L89 recent purchase. I have a couple of questions

I crawled around my car this weekend and found that the front shocks are F41 and the coil springs still have the tag on them.
I also picked up some redlines on FB marketplace for a great price. Just had to drive 2 hours to go get them.
The bonus was they installed them on my newly painted rims and balanced them.
Installed the wheels along with my rings and center caps.

I also carefully removed the yellow paint of the lower rockers and painted them the correct black. Found my frame stencil also.

When I dropped my tank, I also found the St Louis stencil.

Good work documenting all the original components and tags. That is a rare car.

                  Thank you!
Yesterday I got alternator all cleaned up and tested at the local auto parts store.

Going to try and rebuild a leaky original water pump today.
It has the original cast iron impeller and I’m concerned the rebuild kit is designed for different tolerances.

I’d love to hear more about your L89
