    1960 clock

    hello,does anyone know what a original clock with (aug 60)stamped on back is worth I tested it with battery charger but it didn't seem to run otherwise it is in good shape I have someone that wants to deal for one that works but no date, thanks mike

    Hey, before you ditch it, open it up & run a light points file or some 400 wet dry paper across the contacts on the solenoid trip. 9 times out of 10 that fixes it. Give it a shot of some very light oil, WD40 is ok or 3 in 1, you may have to nurse it a bit to get it to stay running at first but it will ultimately be ok. If it's ok cosmetically, you just got yourself a restored clock!

        I have beeen trying to get mine a part, but I am unable to get the reset knob off. Any pointers?

            Steve,
            With fine needle-nose pliers, grasp the shaft of the knob(pull it out first like to adjust time). Then turn knob ccw. It should come off. Very fine threads.

            ps be very carefull using a battery charger to power up. They can be high voltage on startup and burn out the coil in the spring winder. I'd highly recommend a car battery to power up.

                I clean with contact and tape head cleaner, carefully shielding overspray. If you wish to lubricate, do so "very sparingly" by applying the lubricant with the moistened end of a toothpick.
