Re: 1960 clock
Hey, before you ditch it, open it up & run a light points file or some 400 wet dry paper across the contacts on the solenoid trip. 9 times out of 10 that fixes it. Give it a shot of some very light oil, WD40 is ok or 3 in 1, you may have to nurse it a bit to get it to stay running at first but it will ultimately be ok. If it's ok cosmetically, you just got yourself a restored clock!

Re: 1960 clock
Steve,
With fine needle-nose pliers, grasp the shaft of the knob(pull it out first like to adjust time). Then turn knob ccw. It should come off. Very fine threads.

ps be very carefull using a battery charger to power up. They can be high voltage on startup and burn out the coil in the spring winder. I'd highly recommend a car battery to power up.- Top
