Isn't the area where the "DC" is stamped supposed to be machined. They neglected to show the area around the fittings......

I sure as hell wouldn't pay that much....

            Hi Jerry:

Interestingly, I don't think this is a NOS casting, since the area where the DC is stamped is clearly pitted and not freshly machined. It is probably a rebuilt unit.

Also, the cap is a reproduction. There are detectable differeneces in the fonts and spacing.

I agree that the new reproduction castings are very good, although a trained eye can detect that it is a reproduction. The repro caps are fairly good, but very detectable.

So, if this was REALLY a NOS master *with* an NOS cap, some people who are really into originality might pay the asking price. However, this item is not the real deal.

Worth the money if were indeed an NOS unit. But, as Joe said, stamp area should be a machined surface. Machining of these surfaces would have been done AFTER the painting of the item in question which seems to also be missing.

67 MC-Is it NOS & is it really worth that much?

I have to agree with Steve & Joe on the item leaving something to be desired as far as being NOS. The fact the surface of the area that has the DC stamped designation that is normally machined sure makes one wonder. Me thinks the seller has taken considerable license with the term "NOS" and therefore again "let the buyer beware." Bottomline, I don't think so, but it will be interesting to see if someone does because don't forget, it's a 67 part. Pete

If I were interested in it, I would ask for a picture of the machined area where the brake line attaches(I believe it's the front). Service replacements had a very small date stamped there. Almost too small to see unless you know it's there and purposely look for it. My understanding is true originally installed units were not dated.

                            Joe,

Can you post a picture of an original cap, so we can see the differences.
Couldn't believe that a cap afer sitting in a box for 25 years, would look that shiny and new. Looks like a repro cap I just received.
