      Put it back the way it was, you've wasted your money, unless you drive 30K miles a year.

                  Then you need to get an old set of Delco points or Blue Streak & make sure you've got a good coil & the correct ballast resistor. They should last at least 2 years in a weekend driver.

                          Lyndon,

                          If you replaced the ignition points with an electronic pickup, I would guess that the chances of getting the pickup to trigger the ignition in exactly the same place, in degrees, that the point set did, are near zero.
                          Moving the pickup position would produce the same results as rotating the distributor housing which changes the ignition timing.
