Re: WOW!...My miles this summer on my DRIVER

It's been a slow year for me driving my '66 roadster. I've only put on just under 1200 miles here in Colorado Springs. I started working in Denver this past January, so I don't drive it to work very often (3 times this year) as it is a 125 mile daily round trip commute. However, I do plan on driving it up there once this week and will put on 200-300 miles on a weekend very soon as we go up into the Rockies to see the changing of the aspens.

      Rick,

Many fond memories of my 1967 over the five years I drove it. But after new interior, paint, etc. I contracted that strange disease "don'twannadriveitnow." Apparently this is more common than people let on. So it was time to move on and let someone else enjoy the car. Here she is in August being loaded for the trip to her new home south in the USA.

        PAUL-
Tough decission there, WOW. At least you've got a beautiful vert you can take out, enjoy mother nature and show off your new ride in public instead of bringing people to your garage to show em what ya got. Very nice ride!

I'll be using your seat pictures as a referance while I'm restoring mine. Did you find any metal tags attached to your seat frames when you did yours? I've found 2 so far and I'm trying to decipher them (posted the question the other day here on the board).

          Marty,
I have not done my seats yet. Those pics show new/refurbished frames that I will be using. The seats that came with the car are still in it. And if they have tags those will have no meaning. Allow me to explain.

As you probably know shoulder seat belts were an option for convertibles in 1974. When I took delivery of this car in April they were not in place. So I purchased a set from Andover and installed them after cutting the trim plate with a Dremel. Looked great! As well I purchased all the seatback pass-through hardware, bezels, stops, etc.

Next step was to remove the seatback trim and install the pass-through equipment with shoulder belts. No dice! The seatback frames do not have the passthrough slots. The frames are solid in that area. So they must be 1975-77 coupe seats. Hence I accumulated the correct pieces throughout the summer. I had hoped to have things started at the upholstery shop today but the owner has overbooked. We shall see if I can get this done before winter....

            Paul-
When you get to the point of exchanging out your seats look at one of the seat back after you take the panel off. See if you have a metal tag attached to one of the wires and look for part #33976538 that's the seat frame # that came with the A85 option: Shoulder Belts.

              Paul,
Your new ride is really sharp looking and I understand your feeling of not driving them, so time to move on. My problem is that I always lament, "I should have hung on to that car". The offer still stands that if you get to the Detroit area, give me a call and you can drive my 67 Goodwood.
