    NW Regional Event

After being a member for almost 20yrs and being the original owner of my 72 coupe, I took the plunge and had the car judged for the first time this past weekend at the NW Regional in Bend, Or. Received a "go" on all four stars as a Bowtie candidate and received a Top Flight.

This would not have even been a consideration much less a success without lots and lots of help from this discussion board. Additional thanks are due to Patrick Hulst, Joe Lucia, Terry McManmon, Lyle Chamberlain and host of others!!!!! Thank you all!!!!!

BTW.... additional cutos to the gang who put on the meet. They celebrated their 30th anniversary by having their larges regional meet ever. Weather was awesome all week, lots of team leaders and regional directors from around the country were there and of course those included Roy Sinor and Dick Whittington. What an experience!!!!!!!!!!!

I also attended the North West Regional. The men and women of the North West Chapter are to be congratulated on putting on an outstanding event! Lot's of beautiful cars and nice people! Bend, Oregon is a beautiful location for a show. If you have never attended plan on it for 2010.

Congratulations Norm. I was wondering how you faired with the Bowtie judging. I was happy to see you get Top Flight award at the dinner. The weather was great and about 50 cars were judged, but to me Norm's beautiful bright yellow 72 was one of the standouts. How often do find the original owner of a 72 that gets a Top Flight and may get a Bowtie also?

Here's a few digital ones (sorry, only C2's) More general and panoramic pics taken on 35mm film but not yet developed.

Most '65s were red . Saw two 396's, an air coupe and a few others on and off the lawn -- all red.

The guy in the red shirt on last pic is Mike Murray, a frequent poster on the DB.

Thanks Wayne, that's my 64 FI 'RED' Coupe that we drove from San Diego to Bend, 1010 miles, 20.5 MPG, the meet was so well planned and run, a tribute to the NW Gentlemen and Ladies.
PS, we received furthest driven award and a Top Flight, scary, they run without trailers!

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

Ken, thanks for the kind words.... Yes, my comment above saying I had a "go" for Bowtie was saying that I qualified to be judged for all four stars at national. Dick Whittington was the Team Leader who signed me off filling in for Chuck Berge.

Thanks Patrick... you were a big help and part of my success there. If there is a source to teach us how to load pics at the TDB (like was done above) I would be happy to post some pics even have some with Dick, Roy Sinor and his lovely bride..... we heard a "rumor" that Roy was picking up a new ZR1 this week...............

Dan -- you got me beat; Calgary AB to Bend was 850 miles each way [in our family car , or only [technically for a Corvette in flight competition] 380 travel points max (or 10% raw score, whichever is less, which would be my case). If I was to take my '65 coupe next year to Leavenworth (?), I'd hope to squeak into 3rd flight if I work on it all winter . With 4.11's, no way I'd get 20 mpg. Also would have to plot a route that avoids the interstates.

True. We talked to Roy and he was supposed to get it last Monday, but it didn't work out because of the event, so he'll get it this week.

There is a JetStream Blue ZR1 in delivery bay 6 at the Museum now. I think it has been there for a couple of days.
