Re: Show us your Corvette
Patrick H.;
We should start a club of exclusive to Vette owners who have hit a Deer.
I got me a 6 point young and healthy corn fed 215 lb buck. He came out from behind some small trees close to the side of a 2 lane road. I was only going about 35mph as I had just started out from a stop sign. He dropped his right shoulder and stopped an instant before I hit him with the left front. It was late October "rutting" season and it appeared he was running from 2 Does (go figure). At any rate, after 3 months and $3,500. later I had my car back (1992). The NOS body parts look ok, and the paint job is fair, but it's just not the same. I can still see an impression from his hoof in my hood - if you catch the light just right. But I want you to know; I didn't kill him! The Policeman's 12 ga. slug did that. His shoulder and leg were broke and he was flailing around in the middle of the road. The Policeman suggested I "throw him across the hood and take him home, cause your car was damaged anyway"! I said thanks but no thanks. I don't like bruised meat! Still feel bad about that.
Stu Fox
One of my Club members lived nearby, so went home, brought their truck over, and took the deer to my Dad's house. He tasted good.However, by far the most expensive deer I could ever get.
My car sits undone in my Dad's storage barn.
Below is the pic of the spare body I've purchased. The nose will come off and get grafted onto my 71 when I have the time and $$$.
