        Re: Show us your Corvette

Dad bought the car in 1973.
I came home from the hospital after being born in 1974 in this car.
Dad drove it from 73 to 83.
        Stored from 83 to 88.
Driven again from 89 to 06 (sparingly).
Restored from 06 to 09. (now owned by me)
96.6% Chapter Top Flight first time out in Sept 09.

          Dennis,

Was that ZR1 sold originally by Mancuso Chevrolet in Skokie, IL? If so, I remember the car well.

              Re: Show us your Corvette

Here's my original '62. Purchased from the original owner in 1991. I have no idea about the tinted windshield, but my understanding was that it was dealer installed. Original owner traded in a 1956 Thunderbird. Was purchased for his wife so he ordered powerglide because she couldn't drive a standard and power windows so she wouldn't have to reach over and roll up the windows. All this I got from the owner. Has the hardtop to go with it.

                    Re: Show us your Corvette

I'm a brand new NCRS member and a first time Corvette owner. About 15 months ago I purchased a 1978 Pace Car Edition from the original owner and with all documentation from birth. 8,100 original miles, L-48, 4 spd, original paint, original interior. We enjoy driving it on the weekends to the local shows and cruise-in's. My wife enjoys our time with it so much we started looking for our 2nd one! If I would have know it was THAT easy, I would have bought one years ago! NCRS looks like a great organization and I'm glad to be a new member of your team!

                        1970 Zr1/lt1

Here's a spread on my '70 ZR1 in this month's (October) issue of Corvette Fever. Fun to see the car in print - and hoping somebody will recall who was the first owner, and where it was sold.

As mentioned in the article, the car came with NA9, and the build sheet specifies dealer #183 (Zone number not readable). That suggests the car was sold by Guaranty Chevrolet in San Diego, CA or Dailey Chevrolet in San Leandro, CA. The farthest back I can trace the car's ownership is to Highland Indiana where the purported 3rd owner bought it in 1977 or so. Ring any bells?
