Installed the new fuel tank, with correct repro Wittek clamps.
We didn't know how tight the straps should be, couldn't find any tork specs on the straps. Got them as tight as we thought they should be.

Still looking for a correct gas cap for a '70.

        Dan,
Those items were part of the am/fm "STEREO" option of that era. If you are retaining the original in-dash, they are neccessary for the stereo output. Mike

Yes, without BOTH of the pictured units the original radio will not work, at all. If you go with an aftermarket-type radio (yuck!), then you don't need either.

Thanks Mike, thanks Joe. I had a '68 with a AM/FM and it only had the smaller unit to the right. I thought maybe with AM/FM Stereo I only needed the larger unit.

Original heater core, 69 K, suprisingly good condition. What would you do? Have it tested and use it, or pack it away and just get a new one?

DEFINITELY use a new one and keep this one for "posterity". You MIGHT be able to find a radiator shop that would use the original tanks and recore it. However, my experience has been that radiator shops will not want to do it.

I guess it wouldn't be to smart to use it, not that easy to get to, but the darn thing looks to be brand new.

After removing all the A/C, this bracket apeared, bolted to the wheel well. Any ideas? I couldn't find anything like it in the assembly manual. Thanks.

...but we know it's not brand new; it's 40 years old. For one of these things, 20 years would be an EXCEPTIONALLY long life.

You got any idea what the bracket, in the picture I posted above, is for?

I'll take a slightly different approach.

Go ahead and buy a new one, but hold onto your old one.
There are many complaints about poor fit and construction of the ones currently available, and you may in the end be better off re-coring the one you have. At least compare and test-fit the new one.

Hello, seems the water reservoir bracket, below RH fender, near the side grille.

                              Best regards

Thanks Roberto, I wasn't getting much response on this tread so I started a new thread about this bracket.
Would this car have two washer reservoirs? The washer " bag " is under the other fender behind the brake booster.
