Cruising Weather-At Least for a day

It was a sunny 60 degrees here in Colorado Springs yesterday so I dusted off the '66, put the top down and went for a ride. Today it is 28 and snow is expected later in the afternoon. Got to take advantage of the good weather when we can here in the Rockies.

I envy (HATE) you. Here in the North east, salt and snow rule the roads. I am getting the feeling that Mother Nature will be keeping us off the road road for a while!

Anyway, I hope you had a GREAT day out there. I'm sure you know that there will be very few of them until spring!

    Keep having fun!

In TX. this time of year is better driving than summer---too hot then. Currently it is 82 here---down to 21 a couple of weeks ago. I just washed the Suburban (black ) and HHR ("granite") in the drive. Too tired to do anyhting else before Mexican food tonight. I used to live in the North and know how long winter can be. Just got an email from a friend in Marquette, MI. I believe it is about half an hour from the Artic, and he said it is "chilly" today. "Drive 'em if you got 'em!"

When I was in the USAF (22 yrs), I bought my first Corvette ('75) in Omaha, Nebraska and had to endure some brutal winters. I then transferred to San Antonio and whenever I saw Omaha had an icy blast during the winter, I would call my former co-workers to let them know I had driven to work that morning in the Vette, with the T-tops off. Texas has great winter driving weather, but I wouldn't trade it for living in Colorado.

Mark, you are right. It is a beautifull place! My parents lived there for awhile and I visited often. Mom was VP of the local Corvette Club. I have some neighbors here who spend summer on the lake and when snow comes they head back for Durango. John has a 347 CI Tiger he blasts through the mountains in.

Today was a nice 78 degree day, typical of what we've had for this "winter" so far. We have our big cruise each Saturday night, and I went last week. Guess I'll skip tonights show - ho, hum. Been out shopping with the wife today and she wore me out. My top is down. I keep it that way most all winter long. If I put it up it's to use as a sun shade.

Hope our weather holds for the winter meet here in a couple weeks. I'd like some of you frozen northerners to come down and warm up a bit.

Yea, it is very nice and in the 70's here in Dallas/Ft Worth area. Grille pieces are off my '72 for restoration so it is not presentable to drive. Too bad.

Back in '69 I came back from Viet-Nam and was stationed in Ft. Colllins. I had a 65 327/365 side exhaust convertable. I used to drive it with the top down and the heater on.... Garden of the Gods and Pike's peak and great skiing! Beautiful country and girlfriends a plenty in Pubelo.

Now in the northeast, gotta pickle the baby till spring

                    Mark,
Taking a ride sounds nice. But in Colorado Spring? It's dust bowl. How do you keep the Vette clean? or for that matter any car?
My few times to Colorado Spring it was always dusty and sandy. Would rather take the Vette out in the NE during winter than there.

Dust bowl and sandy???? Oh yeah, that's right, it's like that here year round. What an absolute hell hole it is here and I'm not sure why I even stay here. All the pictures you see of the pristine Rocky mountains are just photoshopped fabrications. We need to keep people around the country informed about how bad it is here so fewer people move here in '09.

                        Mark,
Our impressions of Colorado Springs is dust, dust and more dust.
We spent time between the Broadmoor and AF Academy and some other site seeing areas during Christmas/07 and New Years. Beautiful resort!

Yeah well were 100 miles West of Colo Springs. Real tough view we have put up with everyday. I lived in early 80's, Lennox-Tanglewood Berkshires Mass. "Arlo and James Taylor country". Still take the dusty Rockies in winter. As the commercial said -How ya like the New backyard.

It was 81 degrees in the Dallas, TX area on Saturday. Perfect day to run errands all day in our 1960. It never ceases to amaze me how many people comment on the car, honk, and give thumbs up. One man asked me if it was a 1962 Ford Thunderbird! I politely said NO.

I drove the '62 to work on Wednesday. When I stopped to buy some gas some guy asked me if it was a Corvair. It was all I could do to say ?#%$& NO! (no offense to any Corvair owners).
