Headlight Motor Harness Plug Source Needed

    Hello,
The white harness plug on one of my headlight motors is cracked and falling apart.
I am going to clean and rebuild both motors so why not replace the plug socket while doing it? I can't locate a source anywhere for these plugs??? Any help on locating a source....even good used ones would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Tom in Ohio

      Tom,

I'd be interested in a source for that harness plug also.

About 5-6 years ago, I redid my headlight motors on my 67 and one of those harness connectors was broken. Looked all over for a replacement connector at the time, even contacted LL. But at that time they didn't sell just the connector.

So I wound up repairing the plug and reusing it.

      Maybe times have changed.

I have seen reproduction motors at a distance and they seem to have a white socket. Probably available in China but you would think someone is making them here?? I can't believe other midyear folks haven't needed these at one time, but little help so far.

Thanks everyone for your replies. It would appear this white plug is not available anywhere and most originals due to age are getting brittle and will soon break.
Where is the aftermarket on this?

Have you tried Eagle Wire Products in Knoxville, Tenn? They will sell individual components but I don't know if they have the plug you need.

I can't confirm this, but it's worth investigating...

Motors used for power windows are also DC devices that move up/down by reversing polarity on a center tapped winding. The power connector might be the same as that used on HL motors. If so, donor pwr window motors are pretty cheap at your local scrap yard...

                Hi Tom,

I was searching the archives trying find out what color the plugs should be (black or white or yellowish semi-clear?) that go in each side of the 1967 headlight buckets (the ones that are similar to the "Ca-Plug" floor plugs), when I found your Thread. I thought I had seen the part you are talking about, so I looked for it.

If you are still trying to find these, try LIC, part 04-62 (headlight motor plug socket, white).

Scott, that's the part. Now if they were available in black for a 63.

If you ask LIC they can probably get them molded in black, if they don't have them already. They most likely are getting them directly from the molder that supplies. Lec Ltd.

Lec LTD continues to lose business in refusing to sell components, I went through the same thing too.

In reality most of these tools still exist but are hidden behind the big box store fronts that would rather you replace than repair.

                      Harry:

I would try one of the black paints/dyes for plastic interior parts. Should be close enough for a part you can only see with a mirror.

I just heard back from LIC, they have no plans to make the part in black.

Eagle Wire Products is now in Springfield, Ohio.
Call Spencer Rose at 1-800 977-0030.
Don Martin sold out to Spencer a few years ago but the service is still great.

                            Hi Harry,

As Mick once said in 1966 (and a few times since then), Paint it Black.

"I wanna see it painted black, painted black,
Black as night, black as coal..."
