If anyone is looking for the harness end connectors for the headlight motors, take a look at the newest Corvette Central catalog. They now sell the three prong and two prong male connectors. They are black.

Just got a set to replace the one I had to solder together.

I think these have been recently made available. I remember trying to find one years back and being told that I would have to buy the whole harness.

Re: Headlight Motor Harness Plug Source Needed

Many of the connector components are sourced from Packard Electric as they were originally. But, over the years demand has fallen, tooling has worn out and DOT/EPA regulations have come along that prohibit the use of the plastic material that was originally used for certain connectors.

So, the reproduction wiring harness manufacturers face an on-going dilema for how to source 'original' components. In some cases, they're between a rock and a hard place where it's simply NOT possible to get this/that piece as it was made originally.

In quite a few cases, they have to pool their resources (both Lectric and M&H are GM Licensees) to go off-shore and re-tool a given part. NOT cheap!

As end user consumers, most of us are oblivious to these issues and simply don't understand why they refuse to make this/that item 'correctly' or why the harness mfgr won't sell a 5-cent part individually.

On the first issue, it might well be a case where the factory original tooling doesn't exist OR, if it does, they can't legally manufacture the part from the original material today.

On the second issue, there's a cost associated with pulling a part, billing it, and getting it shipped out. Most of the individual connectors exist as 'feed stock' components and are NOT carried in their system as 'final sale' items. So, getting this/that out the door, entails 'special' handling that just isn't cost effective. Hence, they'll sell you the finished reproduction wiring harness, but NOT the individual components used to make it...
