2 X 4 Air cleaner

Does this look like an original un-sealed air cleaner ? I would like to use it on my late 1960.

If so, any tips on how to restore the finish ? I was thinking I would lightly polish it with my Porter Dual action buffer.

This is supposed to be an original air cleaner. How can I tell ?

Anyone running the K & N style element that Corvette Central sells ?

OK looks original because the inner part looks spot welded (original), most repro's use a brass ring

I received my repro air cleaner from Paragon. It is made of steel. They told me it was aluminum. Lots of small scratches on the chrome.

Will return it and try to restore the original I got off EBAY for $150.

That's the 25% of money lost restoring a vett with repro's not made correct. Use your money and fix the real thing, and using steel wool on the air cleaner in a
Circular direction will give it the original look.

Do not buff or polish the air cleaner to a chrome-type finish...use the steel wool mentioned by Roy

Your doing good and it depends on how much more you need to go to finish
