There's a guy on eBay selling a Regional Top Flight Blue Ribbon Item# 270343809479. Is there anything that can be done about this?

I don't know. It just doesn't sem right that someone can be selling unawarded Top Flight ribbons. It devalues all the work that NCRS has done. Can an official from NCRS contact eBay to stop the sale since it is fradulent merchandise?

Probably not. The ribbon is personal property. I have seen the ribbons with certificates for sale on Ebay in the past.

I had a box full of ribbons, and a bunch of blank certificates, left over when we disbanded the Tennessee Valley Chapter. I thought about selliing them on Ebay, and donating the money to charity. In the end, I just donated them to another NCRS chapter.

Getting a ribbon, even with a certificate, doesn't make a Top Flight (or any level car). Faking a Top Flight is the least of our problems these days.

The bottom line is whether these items are either Trademark protected or Copyright Protected. If not, they are fair game - even to the reproduction of them. Perhaps someone in the hierarchy can render a Legal Opinion.

Several years ago, there was an NCRS Master Judge hat for sale on EBAY.

I know the well known Master Judge member who bought it, at his own expense as I recall, just to keep it out of circulation.

Chuck, the hat you're probably referring to came from a church sale that the clothes were donated to after the hat owner passed away. e-bay buyers are everywhere and shop all the local sales. Gary....

In the end, I just donated them to another NCRS chapter.

That was quite a while ago. I did remember to thank you for those, didn't I? All the ribbons were awarded during our Chapter events, thanks again!

If bogus BB 67 cars can sell for 200K and above, don't you think people will pay the big bucks for blue ribbons, pink ribbons, Duntov Plaques and license plates???? And don't you ever think there won't be NCRS people that won't sell!!!!!!!!!!

It's happened before, it's happening now and it will happen again!

It's a "rep(r)o" ribbon:

1. the shade of blue is two chromas too hot (Minolta Spectrophotometer Model 2600D).

2. The spacing of the "shirring" within the upper part of the ribbon is incorrect.

3. The pinking along the bottom edge is not authentic.

I think you'll find trademark/copyright simply protects against unauthorized re-production/manufacture. In this case, if the ribbon was truly earned/won by an NCRS member, then 'title' passed when the award was presented...

A NCRS ribbon without the paperwork is worthless. When you get a award you own it. Sell it if you want but don't know why someone would want it. If I buy a superbowl ring no one will think I played on the winning team,
