Re: Can anyone help me with FedEx issue?

Basically all the carriers are the same to me with my little catalog business. One is no better or no worse than the other. Typically if there is a damage problem its usually the customers fault. I tell people to double box or at least use bubble wrap for various items but some just don't listen.
A shipping problem I have though is being grossly overcharged on ebay for shipping. Recently I bought two small parts that didn't even weigh 1/2 lb. Shipping was over 25.00. Now that's a shipping problem for sure.

So tell me Paul, was that a minor tremor in Tennessee or was it the first sign that a claims agent fell off her padded FedEx chair and made a sound something like "you can get a quote but..."? Do you suppose their merit increases are based on how little they do (in the way of customer support)? Here's hoping it's a good sign!

You are a very bad man Jerry!
Yes, as Jerry has hinted, FedEx has agreed to have Jerry (Electrodesign) proceed with the estimate.
A positive step in the right direction, now let's hope that Jerry's magic touch can save that 47 year old bag of crushed walnut shells.

Re: Can anyone help me with FedEx issue?

For those who have followed this thread, I believe there is a shining bit of insight that may help others in the future. It's apparently not the number of times you FAX or email the required forms, pictures and supporting documentation; nor the number of polite phone calls to the claims department over several weeks. The ice seemed to break when Paul intervened and sent them a picture of his car. His words to me were "intrinsic value".

We who love our vettes know the radio is extremely valuable but to the rep it was a nasty old piece of iron. But, the car it came out of was a work of art. Bingo, the intrinsic value of the radio was established and the claim denial was reconsidered. We may just need to look through the eyes of the rep to help the process along (since we can't get our hands on the fork lift driver ).

Here's hoping no one else has to go through this learning experience!

Good idea the picture of the car. Not just an "Old Car". Good luck guys.

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier. I play golf with the President of FedEx Freight, Eastern Division. Could have gotten this taken care of post haste.

For general info, USPS has a contract with FedEx for FedEx to do the shipping for USPS. May just be for overnight, I'll ask today when we are playing.

Future, don't hesitate to email me with any FedEx problems. This is only good till November as my friend is retiring, but I'm sure he will still be able to help some.

If the shippers had a gun they would not need to sell insurance they could just rob you. They just take your money and pay almost no one.
JMHO from the way they all handled my claims. I'm 0 for 6 with a 0% batting average on claims. They have more excuses than a 16 year old smoking dope that it was your fault your parts were damaged.

I find that it is an exercise in futility to try to collect a claim with Fed/UP or USPS. It is always I said, you said, you are wrong, I am right conversation. The USPS is the worst.

Many thanks Jack, we may need your help yet. Jerry spent several hours tearing the radio down and trying to locate parts on the phone and internet.
He is submitting the estimate to FedEx, we'll see how they respond.

                    Thanks,
                    Paul
