Re: LT-1 Holley Carb Problem Help
Ok, here's the low down.
Clem, no clutch head screwdriver at the Sears in my neck of the woods. Larry, I did find an old dusty one at a True Value Hardware store.
I did figure out what was causing my accelerator pump lever to bind up and not pump.
There was a blockage between the acc. pump passengeway and the shooter nozzles. This caused the pump pressure to deadhead after the bowls filled with gas. Blowing out the passage way cleared the obstruction.
I went ahead and replaced the old black rubber accelerator pump (I didn't see anything wrong with it)with a Holley green 30cc shot, replaced all gaskets and set the floats and acc. pump lever to specs. The power valves looked good and held vacuum in the diaphagm. So I left the originals in.
There was one thing I noticed that is different about the Holley replacement power valves and the the ones in my carb. The power valves in my carb have 4 slots and the Holley's have only 2 slots. I don't know what performance difference this would make, if any.
I filled the bowls with gas and did a trial run on my carb stand. I got a nice even shot of gas out of the shooter nozzles when the acc. pump was activated.
I just finished putting the carb back on and firing her up for a test run.
The engine fires right up and is running smooth and has a nice crisp off idle acceleration. Blip the gas=instant response
Thanks guys for all the tips and help!
