    Speedo fitting on 4-speed

    Just got the new speedo fitting from Paragon, the one that goes in the trans, and the speedo cable attaches to when installed.
    I have a question about the oil seal, which was installed in the fitting.
    Should the seal be flush with the outside edge of the fitting, or should the seal be seated further inside the fitting ? (The pocket would allow that...)
    The seal right now is flush, and making minimum contact with the speedo gear, just contacting the chamfer at the end.
    If I would push the seal further in, it would actually work as a seal.
    I am leaning toward pushing the seal into the pocket, so it contacts the gear shift, and not just the chamfer at the end.

    Hello;
    Are you also using a new gear?
    If not, does the present gear have a groove, worn in, from the seal.
    If it has a groove move the seal inward to contact a new area.
    If this does not address your question, please post pictures.
    Hope this helps.
    Ray
    And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    I hope you dance

      Hi Ray,

      Yes I am also using a new gear, which has a 1/4" area for the seal and the start of the groove. I pushed the seal in, so the smooth area on the gear contact the seal lip properly. looks good...
