        Here's my other baby

        Brandon,

        An 82 El Camino Conquista:

Bought it in 1983, and it is still my daily driver around town. I replaced a 70 El Camino SS with a 396 replacement engine. (wish I still had the 70)

The post 78 El Caminos are a different class than the muscle car earlier El Camino's, they are more based upon the Malibu rather than the Chevelles.

This 82 has a V6-231 Buick type engine with half a Quadrajet carb, called a Dualjet. Computer controlled with CA emissions, it gets just lousy gas mileage, and drives me crazy. You just can't adjust anything, the computer does it all.

But it is great hauling things to the dump, and hauling bigger things from the store home. It is actually my engineering business car. (Have written it off many times over)

Don't think I'll replace it, but I might get a Prius (no, no, no, a Malibu) hybrid to augment it.

1972 K5 Blazer and a 1964 Impala SS Convertible. Both need work but that's the fun of it.

My 57 Nomad has only 10k miles as it was apart for 30 years. Tuch did the body and paint. The 427 and aluminum heads is quite quick. Sporting 3.70 P case posi, 4 sp and power rack and pinion steering from a 93 Buick. The Corvette rotors and Wilwood calipers stop it. Soon to have power added.
Future plans are to sell it and get a 58 Corvette.

Love the El Camino but I've got some bad news for you on the Malibu Hybrid. I think last week GM announced that they were discontinuing the Hybrid option. I think that leaves you with Ford, Toyota or Honda choices for hybrid sedans. Presents quite a dilemna doesn't it?

I got a kick out of a post yesterday of a mileage contest between a C5 and a Prius. Sure, the Prius won but the C5 did pretty darn well. Maybe you should consider a used C5 rather than a Prius.

                      Cheers

                          Mike,

Only kidding about the Prius. But I'm really attached to this 82 El Camino, just wish I could get some better gas mileage, before the greens in California condemn it.

Thinking about putting a a TBI fuel injection system on it.

Also have a line on a 67 327 HE base engine (dated about 3 months prior to the one in my 67 Corvette) but the guy souped it up with a fancy cam and intake, total rebuild. He wants about 3 grand for it.

Wonder if someone could make a 67 327 meet modern day CA emissions.

NOTHING is NOS on that old car, Ray.

It's just a neat old school "low tech" hot rod, something I can work on myself. Been a hot rod since the mid 60's. Has about 90K original miles on it.

California/Arizona car till about 1980. No rust, all original panels, floors, trunk, etc.

The truck is my daily driver when I'm not driving the company's Impala. The Camaro is in line for restoration, if I don't end up selling it before. People stop in all the time and want to buy it. There are also some others, but the pictures of these were handy.
