It's not a change of heart - it's a change of finances and vacation time.
Both the NCRS Nat'l and Carlisle are out for me this year, as was my plan to attend the museum event at Labor Day. My Corvette events were our Chapter Meet and Bloomington - so my Corvette shows are now done for the year.

Oh, and if the government takes over health care, passes the cap & trade bill, and continues to run the car companies I doubt I'll ever do much more than our Chapter Meet and Bloomington.

Thanks Pat. With Zoe in the business of teaching school, the yellow bus immediately came to mind. And you are likely right about the van rental being least costly. The whole decision hinges on the head-count since that will drive the size requirements.

        No problem.
With the Regional I learned all about the cost ($$$) of renting busses and drivers.

Oh come on Pat; did you have to turn this thread political? You're a physician -- cap and trade will boost fuel prices only a little, or is it your AC you are worried about. You DO have a right to be worried about government health care though. I should be worried about cap & trade since the utility business is my thing. We may all be walking if the government runs the car companies though. But I really think you have been listening to the AMA party line way too much. Let our kids worry about it -- Oh, I forgot you are young enough to be my kid.

In order for me to get a handle easily on the numbers involved, would each of you that has confirmed attendance please send me an e-mail with the number of persons that need to be included. In other words, if you are going to be going "stag", with a spouse/companion, or with other guests.

I am making some transportation inquiries. If we can get a head-count (so to speak), I can get a cost estimate for the round trip, and post it up here. I would suppose the more people the lower the cost per person.

I think the limo or van is an excellent idea. If you will take care of that end, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, I would appreciate it if each person that e-mails me with their reservation would indicate if they want to get in on the transportation (or, drive themselves down). Then, I'll be able to get that information to Terry for the transportation arrangements.

                Yah, thanks.

Not trying to turn it political - just thinking of fuel prices.
Last year's trip to Carlisle (taking the yellow car via trailer behind my truck to the NCRS Gallery) was very expensive by the time I paid $4+/gallon at 10 mpg. I don't want to do that again (and had been discussing it with someone earlier today), thus my thoughts on fuel prices.

Oh, and I don't belong to the AMA or listen to them. Most doctors don't.

And I shouldn't have jumped on you so hard. I had a long and difficult day at work, and jousting with two cell phone providers hasn't made me any more joyous, but that should not have carried over here. There ARE good reasons for all of us to be concerned, but some people are making large of "doomsday" coming.

As an aside sometime when we are together and have some time -- yea sure, like that will happen soon, nudge me and I will share with you my and Zoe's experiences with national medical systems. Zoe received treatment in Spain, and I in a French territory. I doubt either experience has anything to do with how natives are treated, since we were tourists, but it was enlightening for us.

Thanks Joe. I'll make the transportation arrangements -- or at least start by getting an estimate so folks can decide what they want to do. It's only fair I handle this part since Zoe needs special accommodations.

my favorite overseas medical story goes like this. i worked with a guy who went to Austria to go skiing, had a appendicitis attack. they took him into the little town hospital and when the surgeon came into the operating room he tied his german shepherd dog to the operating table. the guy live to tell the story so i guess it was not a problem.

And, if memory serves from my days of employment with a Bay area modem company, the Sardine Factory has a wine list that can SERIOUSLY challenge the credit limit of even an American Express card!
