    Luckily enough I can still see them, because I told the rebuilder not to deck the block, under any circumstances. He shaved the heads and cleaned the block surface, evidently including the stamp pad. Notice the Tonawanda stamp was struck heavier towards the top of the gang. The St. Louis vin derivative stamp was pretty much struck head on.

    Surely counterfeiters have a way by now of decking blocks longitudinally, leaving broach marks from front to back. Of course, if one were to check the deck height it would come up a little short from original factory specs. Then you better worry.

      Here is the pad with paint mostly removed. Does this picture help you determine if it is the real deal?

                  375 HP built at LA Nice upside down vin reminicent of the old Roby Price Black 67 435 convertable.

                  Surface looks good.

                  I have apicture of MQ 68 camaro stamp built in norwood very similar.

                    Ed, I think that I could live with that pad, based on what I see in the picture. Sometimes they look totally different in person though
