Paris Island, New River N.C., Okinawa, USS New Orleans, Atsugi Japan, NAS South Weymouth Mass.
At Atsugi Mt. Fuji cold weather training and VIP transport had Spiro Agnew on board once in 1972. A Marine that was stationed there in the late fifties radar operator became famous in the sixties by killing a President in Dallas yes Lee Harvey Oswald found out about that well after leaving the service.
In South Weymouth the A-4C were sold to Argentina and attacked the British in the Falklands. The E's were sent to Israel after losing their A-4 in the 73 War.

The whole school district participated with the bands, choirs, and presentations including singing "God Bless America". It was Great.

USAF 1958-64, Security Service, Korea, SE Asia and Middle East. Gary....

Every year in our little community we have a Veteran's Day breakfast and ceremony. There are at least six attendees who participated in D-Day. The fly-by is led by NCRS Member Mac Angel (1304) silver star winner and former Thunderbird pilot. The speaker this year was the gold star mother of Sgt Casey Joyce, who was killed in the Black Hawk Down battle in Mogadishu. Support our troops who fight and die for our freedom, so that we may live in the best country in the world and participate in our great Corvette hobby!

Every day at DFW R&R troops arrive from the war zones about 10AM CST. They are greeted by a hundred volunteers or more. Very heartening to see the troops come out of customs and see the flag waving crowd waiting for them. http://www.dfwairport.com/heroes/index.php

Yesterday, I stopped by to wish a Happy Veteran's Day to my 80-something neighbor up the block, "Fuzz" Nash. He was a landing craft coxswain (USN) off an attack transport at Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

My late father was Army Ordnance Corps during WW II and spent time at Aberdeen Proving Ground in tank development and various auto plants as a production engineer for military equipment. Prior to the War he was with the Pontiac Sales and Service organization and was Portland Zone Manager when he was called to active duty in 1942.
