I've been in the house. It was nice, with a large living room and library. There is no reason that two people would need anything more. It is only about 2 long blocks from the water, in a great neighborhood. Too bad the memorabilia that was there does not come with it. The silver serving tray with the large NART logo, the Bugatti steering wheel on the wall........

One Bathroom? I guess he didn't have three daughters. Hopefully it has a 3000 square foot garage...

That path was probably made with one of these behemoths. Saw one in person a few months ago. They're used for high speed snow removal on airport runways..

Does anybody know what happened to all of the items that were in that house. I have photos of most of them from a visit back in 03, but never heard where it all went. I heard there was a change to Elfi's will or wishes shortly before her passing. Anybody ever hear ??

Let me tell ya............ There was some neat stuff in there !!

The snow trench made in Rick's picture was not made by a blower like that. Note the walls have groves in them. That blower leaves smooth walls. My guess is that the path in Rick's photo was dug by a back hoe with the help of some front-end loaders.

I spent a year in the UP during my Air Force military service. We had the grandfather of that snow blower on the base -- actually three of them made by Oscosch. The front augers on ours were higher than those on the Denver machines. They were not high-speed, but they would go through anything including snow frozen into ice -- which happened during the long winters up there. The four-wheel steering, although mentioned only briefly in that story, was amazing. The blower could crab sideways into a pile of snow ten feet high, and just eat away at it and throw the remains 50 to 100 feet away.

They mentioned a rabbet ingested by the machine. I can tell you it will ingest a human without even slowing down, and there are almost no remains to be found. It happened while I was there. They had a spotter out to help the driver avoid the lights and signs, because visibility out the front was nil with the taller auger box. Well, you can figure the rest of the story.

Jerry Burton would know - he was very close to both Zora and Elfi, and saw to many of Elfi's needs in her final year of life.

Don't know him, but I hope the Corvette world gets to see some of the neat items from the home again. Would love to see Duntov's home office and desk recreated for the NCM.

" I expected he would live in a far more opulent home of about twice that size at least.

                              I live in a 4,000 sq ft house, with a 4,000 sq ft barn/garage.

His house wasn't "opulent," but I really love houses of that style.

How many square feet do two people need?

                              It's very European to me.

Here is a photo from Zora's home office. This picture was taken in May of 2004. Elfi said it was just the way Zora left it. Check out the camshaft lamp on the right. What I wouldn't give to have that !
