    Help rear spring mounting kit

Well today I installed the rear control arms /diff and Leaf spring.
for some reason the spring pad doesn't line up exactly with the control arm pad the bolt is at an angle. I bought the rear spring mounting kit from vette products. The pads seem so thick that I don't have room for the rear stabilizer hardware. Any suggestions. I converted the rear trailing arms to disk brakes from Blairs and got the frame from Collier tec .
After getting it together I noticed the side yoke coming out from the case I guess the slip ring wasn't put in properly from a local transmission shop All taken apart . Cheers

Everything will line up properly once the suspension is at it's normal ride height. Don't forget to remove the shipping bands from your spring.

Mike they have been on the car probably 7 years plus. So I just cut them off ? Thanks for the sharp eye. I still can't get the metal bracket in or a wrench for that mater . No room for bolts.

          Wayne,

in order to install the nut plate for the rear sway bar ling here's what you have to do.

You have to disconnect the leaf sprng from the outer bolts and let the bolts hang straight down. Then take the nut plate and put it into position...this will require wedgeing the plate in and tapping it in with a hammer and punch... then you can install the sway bar link bracket and bolt. When the leaf sping is connected to the bolts it puts too much of a twist/angle on the bolt to install the nut plates.

          Hope this helps, Rich

Wayne also from the pictures you will want to install the strut rods before the spring goes back on it makes this much easier.....

Once the weight is back on the suspension wouldn't it compress the rubber cushion enough to slip the sway bar hardware in at that point?

Where did you get these trailing arms? They are not GM pieces. Are these some sort of "off-set" trailing arm that you're using so that you can use much wider than stock tires?

Keep in mind that using non-stock pieces like these can cause problems when installing other related stock components.

Wayne how does the car sit? ( ride height) in your fourth photo, the leaf above the main leaf looks very long and heavy (thick) where did you get the spring from or did you have the orig. rebuilt. Phil 8063

The spring came with the car . Ride height seems ok . 9 leaf. As far as the trailing arms yes they are offsets from Bair's . I have a driver none matching numbers car. I believe at some point the car had a big block engine as the old frame was notched out by Buba. Should be interesting for the alignment guy .

Why are you adding a rear sway bar? If not matched to the front bar, handling can be negatively affected.

As far as the REAR goes, whether one calls it a stabilizer bar, stabilizer shaft, sway bar or whatever, no 1963-64 Corvette was ever originally equipped with one.

During 65-74 only big blocks were equipped with them. From 1975-82, Corvettes with FE-7 HD suspension had them.

Joe : I meant it came with the car when I bought it. It did have a big block at one time. Would the handling be better with it off. I have had no problems with handeling. Thanks

Someone must have added the bar, at the time the big block was installed or otherwise. I would not use the bar with a small block and standard springs.

If the front bar is 3/4", I DEFINITELY would not install the rear bar.
