Missing something here, ground lugs and where they're supposed to go are not reaching

I know I have the right length wires on the right cylinder, no question there.

on the passenger side I have cylinder wire lugs for cylinder 2 & 4 on the first valve cover bolt from the front and it reaches but is tight.

I have cylidner wire ground lugs for cylinder 6 & 8 on the 3rd bolt and they look fine.

    ........

on the driver side, cylinder wire ground lugs for cylinder 1 & 3 the #3 cylinder wire won't reach the first valve cover bolt from the front so I put them under the 2nd valve cover bolt from the front is this correct???????

then I put cylinder wire ground lugs for cylinder 5 & 7 under the rear/last valve cover bolt..

is this correct or no the aim is a hunk of junk on this one and I see pictures that vary from car to car..what is correct?

this is on my 68 l36, thanks

Brandon, the gounds don't go on the first v/c bolt, it's the second and forth on the drivers side.
