    Re: Pulling the motor

    Ok,
I pulled out the service manual and started following the book, go figure. I removed the coolant lines, the lower radiator hose, and the fan and fan clutch. The next step in the book is where I do need help, it says to disconnect wires at:
Vacuum advance solenoid (if so equipped)
    Starter Solenoid
    Delcotron
    Temperature switch
    Oil Pressure Switch
    Coil

I know where the starter is, where are the others and what is a Delcotron?
The pictures are of my progress.

More progress. I labeled and disconnected the wires from the motor the other day, I also removed the alternator (delcotron), and distributor. Afterwards I was looking through my 73/74 AIM, under "Frame and Suspension Finish Chart it lists the alternator braces as being stamped and finished with a semi-gloss black finish. My braces are anodized, they appear to be original other than that. Enclosed is a picture.
Do I have incorrect braces, did a previous owner refinish them a different way, (looking at the motor you can tell there was no way they were thinking anything original), is the AIM wrong, or am I reading it wrong?

Todd: go back and read your third message. Now, stop whatever you were going to, get two cans of your favorite penetrating oil and wet down every headbolt and nut that you can see.

I did my 67 BB all by myself, a chore, but doable. extra hands and eyes help, I had to go slow, very slow, but all worked out great when I did it

When I did my 75 I pulled the the whole assembly out at one time.Support radiator and schroud. It took 2 people but was much easier than taking off everything from the front of the engine.
