I started using Ebay 1 year ago and found it a good source for original parts. When I go on the site now you see mostly new parts from suppliers with very few private offerings with much interest. I noticed the change over the winter. What has occured to change the parts being auctioned.

One of the big changes is the increase in fees to auction stuff. Ebay has cranked up the charges and since you have to use PayPal they double dip you. I was selling some stuff on ebay, but you have to put the price up to cover their fees.- Top

Re: Ebay Change
Yup. I hate it. I used to be able to search using "1970 Corvette," or "Corvette tips," and I'd get almost all original parts. Now, the new parts suppliers use such all-inclusive terms that it clogs up the search results with mostly new repo parts.- Top

Re: Ebay Change
Refuse to use PayPal due to bad experience (outside attempts to get into bank accounts . . .) and since ebay makes most of the small guys use that I don't even look any longer. Now it looks like a business opportunity for someone.- Top

Re: Ebay Change
If you do a search in Vintage Car and Truck Parts, looking for 53-82 Corvette Parts it seems almost half of what pops up comes from Corvette Central. They should give you an option of deleting vendors/sellers out of your search. Nothing more aggravating than searching for original or at least time correct parts made in U.S.A. than to have a bunch of Chinese made crap pop up.- Top

Re: Ebay Change
The cost is one thing dealing with e-bay but new people mostly buy repro's because they think the part is correct because dealers say so and it's new and pretty . Down the road years from now all you'll see is what I call kit cars having few real original parts- Top

Re: Ebay Change
Paypal has been the culprit of two credit card thefts in 2 years. In January within 20 minutes of paying for something with amex it was out there, I had a call from amex - that is how I knew.
The big issue is there are couple big junk sellers summit racing and a few other that have just trashed ebay with hundreds per day of their automated posting with every car in the world listed. So that is how your results are compromised. Ebay is doing absolutely nothing since summit alone is worth over 300 fleabag sales per day - what do you think? They are going to cut off 300 sales for the purists? no way. It will only be this crown taking all their business to bonanzle which has a lower fee structure - and you can see when I found about them and posted it here.- Top

Re: Ebay Change
Terry how do you exclude vendors? Blasting Summit racing will get rid of 1000 of the 1966 items for sure!
Excluding buy it now eliminates good parts from guys just asking for market price, versus those tha run things up to the moon.- Top

Re: Ebay Change
It use to be simple until they started the "New Ebay Motors". One example is when using the advanced search. You use to be able to specify the year range you wanted to search after hitting the "Parts and Accessories". Now to get specific years you have to enter each individual year both 2(67) and 4(1967) digit. If searching for midyear stuff you have to enter (63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967) and you have to enter it in parentheses to get all the parts. This should be an easy fix for them right? Just add the year option in the "Parts and Ass" tab. But forget it!! You call and talk to one of their so-called "customer service" reps and it's totally useless!! Chances are real good the customer service rep is located in the Philippines or some other place where they don't know or care about car parts!! Except for maybe a cousin that may be working in one of the many part production facilities cranking out that "Vintage part" that pops up when you do your search!! Capitalism at it's best,, but that's another thread!!- Top

Re: Ebay Change
On the the left side of the page are a bunch of links, schroll down to sellers, click on it, then click on specify sellers, window pops up, click on "show only items from these sellers", click next to "include" then click exclude, in the box type vendors e-bay id, seperate more than one by a comma. I exclude SummitRacing_sales, Partsqueen, carpartswholesale, and Corvette central and it cuts the listings by half.
