    Re: '63 Owners Pin

I think '62 and '63 are the same (I know the Gordon Miller offerings were the same) and my '62 pin has this info on the reverse:
    M1/5
    10K DP

      Bill;

I think you were involved in the last discussion about this topic. My latest info indicates that GBM was the supplier for 1956 to 1960 ish. M 1/5 has shown up with early 62 cars.

So, it appears that the change may have occurred sometime after the beginning of the 1960 model year and before the 1962 model year.

Yes, these are rough estimates, since there are a lot of variables involved.

Still waiting to hear from an original 1961 owner that has the pin. 1960 owners please jump in as well.

And yes, in the overall scheme of things, it is not that big of a deal which pin you have. It is not a judged item.

Don't know either when the Gordon B. Miller & Co.actually stopped providing the CV-1 Tie Holder but in late '61 their intention seemed to be in that business through the '63 model year at least.

Interesting post Bill. I am wondering if Gordon Miller continued to be the supplier for the Corvette Owners pins, but they just changed the markings on the reverse.

The 1/5 could represent the thickness of the gold on the Corvette Owners Pin (see note at top of your attachment), and the M could stand for Miller.

For example, a mark of '1/5 10K G.F.' refers to a gold filled article that consists of 10 karat gold for 1/5th of its total weight.

            Interesting.....

The only Corvette Owners Pin that I ever owned I found in a desk at work in 1987. When I asked around, I found out that one of the occupants of that desk, two people before me, was a Corvette owner. He had long since left the company.

I sold it a few years later, for a nice sum.

Bill, thanks for posting. Newer more modern looking form than the 57 & 58, but same Gordon B. Miller mailing address.

Ed, where did you get the information that vendor changed? Gary....

I don't think they did now. Originally I was thinking that the change from GBM to M 1/5 was a change of manufacturer.

Now I believe that it is just a change related to the gold content and thickness.

I wonder if there was a standard adopted, or perhaps a law passed that required jewelry to be marked with the gold thickness and content.

In any event, the change in markings on the back seems to have occurred between 1960 and 1962.

Still trying to narrow that down.

Ed, one of our members purchased a '59 Owner's kit & the pin is MI/5.

Still searching for a '59 original owner who still has their pin.

                                Interesting.

I have a source, not deemed reliable, that indicates that a 1960 Corvette owners pin is stamped GBM.

My source may very well be wrong.

Do we know for sure that the owners pin in that 59 kit was received in 59, and that it is the same pin that was originally in the kit.
