    '63 Owners Pin

I have been fortunate to have been able to track down the orignal owner of my '64 convertible. Through discussions with him I learned that he originally owned a 1963 that was stolen and never recovered. His insurance company paid his claim and he used the money to buy the 1964 that I now own.

I first contacted him during the spring where he winters in Florida. He told me he would look for any data he might still have when he returned to his home in NY. Today he informed me that although most documentation is long gone, he did find Corvette Owners Pins for both cars. He kindly offered one to me and indicated that he would try to sell the other one.

Do these pins have any value among collectors? If so can anyone speculate as to what one might be worth?
    Thanks in advance-Doug

      Hi Doug,
The original owners pin have a lot of value. Price of course depends on condition and if it has the orginal plastic box. I was looking for one a couple years ago and they were in the range from $150 and up. They pop up on ebay often. I ended up with one of the reproductions that were made about 10 or so years ago. The originals were too rich for me as I was already spending too much on the car.

Doug, appreciate it if you would post photos of the backside showing the stamping. Thanks, Gary....

These pins are quite collectible. I love them. Going rate is about 200ish if you have the box with it. Do a search on thse pins. There is some good write ups about them.

There are fakes out there, so you need to watch what you are buying. Nothing like finding one the original owner has had tucked away for years. Better yet if you get the envelope and folder it came in !!!!! Jackpot !

Thanks for all of your replies.

Until he sends one of the pins to me I only have the single photo that I posted. When I receive the pin or if he takes a photo of the reverse side I will post it. I don't know about the box or envelope yet.

I have also sent your comments to him and suggested he consider selling to an NCRS member rather than on Ebay. We'll see what he says.

Just received an e-mail from the original owner. He said he started an ad on Ebay last night, and that he has the oriignal boxes. If the pin doesn't sell I'll try to put him in touch with those of you that expressed interest.

Sorry it didn't stay off ebay

I'd be interested in seeing what the original boxes look like. I have had my pin since 1963, but I don't recall what the box looks like as it was separated from the pin and mixed in with other jewelry in a collection I've accumulated over nearly 50 years. I even mispalced the pin about 30 years ago, and found it by accident in my junk.

                  Hi Stu,
The owner placed it on Ebay last night. I don't know if he added a photo of the box. If not, when he sends the '64 pin to me and if it includes the box I'll take a photo for you.

Price is interesting. My wife, once a original owner of 1964 convertible still has the pin but no box/envelope, has the Corvette patch as well.

Thanks for the picture offer Doug. We'll watch for it.

I have the patch and, somewhere along the way, I acquired a second one and have them velcro'd to my carpeting side/console panels, along with a host of old Army/Air Force campaign/unit patches from SEA. Make great conversation pieces. Also have a SVN theater ribbon bumper sticker on my front bumper. Got a lot of "welcome home" hand shakes from that too.

An interesting discussion on the variations of owner's pins. I don't think we ever got to the bottom of it.

Still looking for an original 1961 owner that has the pin?

FYI: GBM is Gordon B Miller & Company of Cincinatti, OH. They made lots of trinkets for GM is the 50s. They are out of business now, having been bought by another company in 1990 or so.

                          Hi Stu !

Here's a shot of one of mine. I got it from the original owner. His car was a 66.

The little boxes are often found at flea markets and swap meets. Lots of other type pins came in these boxes.

                            Tom;

Thanks for posting the picture of a pin in a box. Now I know for sure I must still have it as I have a bunch of these boxes accumulated over the years. So, I guess I just need to match them up.

                            Thanks again.

Please post what the stamping is on the back on the pins. Photos would be great. Lots of members have pins, but it's always nice to substantiate with "Original" owners. Thanks,
