    66 shoulder harness ??

still restoring a 66 bb that previous owner described to be a sholder belt car. it came with a set of shoulder belts and seat belts, but how to be sure? there holes in the body near the wheel wells and a hole on each side of the chassis. (the holes are not in the same spot and they are on the top of the rail) they look to be tapped.
is there a mounting plate, angle plate that would attach?
any pics of the chassis mount area would help
the am dosent indicate anything, but a bolt into the chassis (i think)
please advise if i have a seatbelt car ( early jan 66)
    thanks

Bill - Before you get too far, do the tags on the seat belts and shoulder harness belts have the appropriate model numbers and dates for your car. While I realize that the tags can be reproduced, I'd start there because if the belts and associated information on the tags don't appear to be original, I'd have questions about other aspects. Good luck. Pete

      great idea
the belts i have are rough. in fact the seat belts are aircraft style and can't be opened. I cant find any #'s on them
the shoulder harness is also aircraft style, darker blue straps and buckles

        Bill -

There isn't any connection or anchorage to the chassis (unless it's a big-tank car). The anchor end of the shoulder belts uses a bolt that goes through a hole in the fiberglass underbody into a weld nut on a steel reinforcement that's riveted to the outside of the underbody. See photos below (from Paul LaTour, I think).

Sorry, Bill, to be the one, but,
Interior Section, of the '66 Manual, page 37 states that the Harnesses were introduced into production at approximately VIN 15,000.
The buckles were of the second design Hamill push button style. (Page 34)

            John thanks for the photos
guess i shouldn't believe past info. Mine looks nothing like that
no indicataion of any plates, just a hole in body with a tapped hole in chasiss top rail below them. maybe after thought by past owner.
It just saves a little $ toward something else.

Mike -- I only have AIM UPC A85 sheet A3 (ie. no '66 TIM&JG) and I see that for tankers, the drawing was made 5-18-66 and released 2 days later. Does this imply that the first N03 shoulder belt cars [however few] would be typically VIN 22000 or later ?
