GM Documentation; T. Michaelis ad (offer) in Hemmings

I'm surprised nobody has commented on this. In the current newsstand issue of Hemmings, Terry has made an open $ million+ offer to a retired GM documents storage person that resides in Pennsylvania, and with whom he tried to deal with a decade ago, before the bankruptcy and rebirth of the company. The gist of the ad (no, I didn't buy the issue ) presents the logic that neither this person nor Terry are getting any younger, and that any legal obligations to the (old) GM that this person might have had have evaporated with the bankruptcy.

Give me your thoughts on this, and does this have any tie-in with the recent announcements about the coming NCRS (limited) records availability ?

Interesting. When Terry smells money, stand back.

It would be nice if all the fakes could be exposed-regardless of who has the capability, but I'm not holding my breath.

Boyers was one of the sites that I researched for Jim Perkins during his quest to locate said build documents.

It will be interesting in following this scenario.

The best bet is that they (build documents) will never see the light of day again. If they did these things would follow:

                  1. Restoration shops all over the US would be involved in litigation!

                  2. High profile sellers would be involved in litigation!

                  3. Bloomington Gold would be involved in litigation!

                  4. NCRS would be involved in litigation!

                  5. Lawyers all over the US would be advertising on TV!

                  Enough, I'm feeling ill!

Nah....I believe it's called "caveat emptor". Unless you are tampering with serial numbers and registration papers, there is nothing illegal about swapping engines or accessories that I am aware of.

This is BS, the crooks keep on being crooks, and the honest people get screwed.

Yes - where there is smoke, there is fire.

25000 pieces of paper each year for 11 years?

That is a big pile of papers.

If it was done good, that might be like 6 or 7 ream boxes per year.

There was a van or U-Haul moving this stuff around.

And if the seller, to close the sale, provided a signed, witnessed and notarized guarantee of "original drive train" on, say, an RPO 684 or 687 car that changed hands in the six figure group, would you be comforatable as the seller?

What is the statue of limitations, if this happened 30+ years ago?

Recent six figure stuff at barret - OK
