    Re: Modified Vettes

    Also, consider DRIVING the car to that judging event and put the NCRS policy of mileage driven points to work FOR you! You can raise your car's base Flight Score (provided the car ears a 3rd Flight or better result on its own) buy UP TO 10% by simply putting gas in the tank and actually driving/using it vs. making it a trailer Queen!!!

      I do not have the judging guide with me but, I thought I read where a vette with a modified body (such as fender flares) could not be entered in sportsmans class? True or flase?

          Michael;

          You can participate in NCRS at just about any level you wish. Some people just get the publications, and never attend any events.

          Other people are very involved in helping with the events, etc.

          You can just register for Sportsman class, drive your car to the event, park in the reserved area, and enjoy the day.

          You can also register your car for judging, knowing up front that there are areas where you will take point deductions. So what! Having your car judged will almost definitely bring some things to your attention that you did not currently know.

          Initially, forget about the points...and take advantage of the opportunity to have some of the most knowledgeable Corvette people in the world examine your car and tell you where you stand.

          Remember, the goal here is to learn some things about your car, and have fun doing it.

              What does wrong color paint get as a deduction?
              All three of them.

              One can speak freely as long as it's in lock-step with the conservative/conventional view.

                  I am pretty sure that is false, Bill. My 2008 is modified -- full width rear spoiler -- and I would wager no one gives a rat's patute. I have enough Sportsman's ribbons for that car, I think I'll go in the business and sell them on that auction site. I remember once seeing a '59 (I think, I am a little shaky on C1s) in Sportsman's class with chromed rear springs, wheelie bars and a blower sticking through the hood.

Must own and drive a 1953-through-current-year production Corvette and park in the designated Sportsman parking area… or... own and drive a stock-appearing 1953-1996 Corvette and be willing to leave the car on the judging field with the judged cars during the event judging as space permits. “Stock appearing” is defined as no body, bumper or driving light modifications.

                      Thank you Reba. So modified vettes are OK in the Sportsman Parking area, but only stock appearing vettes on the flight judging field, even though they are still in the sportman class...

                          Yes, and in addition to that thought, it is REALLY REFRESHING to see this organization (NCRS) finally come around to recognizing and acknowledging that "personalized" Vettes, just as well as Flight/Survivor Vettes do in fact exist.
                          BUT THERE IS STILL ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT!

                          Too bad it took so long to acknowledge and recognize E56S002834.

                            This not really a new program, Tom. The class with the same rules has been around over ten years.
