    67 Big Block Hood

I have a 67 roadster with a 327/350 and A/C. The car has a big block hood which I am told is an original item. The car was assembled in January. Any way of knowing whether this was one of the small block cars delivered with a big block hood?

    Robert -

Small-block cars with factory-installed big-block hoods never happened; it's one of those "legends that won't die".

but it HAS to be true....I read it on the internet.

So out of the what, some 2500 Vettes made during this time, ALL had big block hoods?

            Robert,

Despite Noland Adams claim in his book that a tool was dropped in the small block hood mold and broke it and big block hoods were used until the mold was fixed, there has been no solid proof offered that any small block was delivered with a big block hood. For starters, you might check which side the hood support is on since small blocks and big blocks had the support on different sides.

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the .........Twilight Zone

Since John Hinckley was there, I'll have to side with him. Regardless, for judging purposes the burden of proof is on the owner. I wouldn't doubt that some buyers negotiated with the dealer for a BB hood before ever buying the car.

Did you ever wonder why no original BB owners ever claimed that there 67 came with a small block hood. LOL

That would make it a "Dealer installed item" and not "As delivered from the factory".

Like the ultra rare 6 tail light option for California only?

Mine was a ST Louis Car. The never ending debate. Simple, Its the next car, NOT 25 or 50-or 100 or 200 hundred cars away. Try to get closer than that. Vin 12346 period.
But My ol 58 Dual quad car sold in 74 for $1500.00 Now is/was a CT Duntov Car achieved in early 90's.
It stands today as a 230HP Car.
I saw it in Meridan,CT meet in 1995. So the then owner Paul Landis I believe his name was had his antlers sagging. When told him about my ol man selling the dual quads for 50.00 put on a 2 barrell rodchester getting 19MPG.
The 1958 was a $600.00 purchase 270HP car. I bought in Oct 69. But the is stands as a Duntov car. Oh yeah was a charchold/black interior. Now its Magic Red.
So the magic bullet still turns and so will the BB hood story. NEVER, NEVER claimed its factory installed. Just interesting that both cars had it. 2 different cars w/ both owners going to the dealer demanding/or asking for their car to have and put on the BB Hood, HMMM.
