I was at the McDorman auction today and his 1968 small block convertible with hardtop vin # 2 has the spring doors. It sold for 30K and it wasn't me who bought it.

Thanks John! Did you restore these?

                  Terry

The door in the picture is not restored. I removed it to evaluate what I could do to get the doors to work as intended.

When I bought the car you could no longer reliably open and close the doors. When the doors are in the closed position the springs put quite a bit of pressure on the plastic main frame which causes it to crack and distort making the door operation iffy.

I've yet to see a reproduction of the spring hinges. I'll eventually transfer the original hinges to a reproduction frame but for now my temporary solution (last 4 years) has been to just slip a complete reproduction unit in the opening.
