    Goodyear Bluestreaks

For you who might remember these 7.75 X 15 Goodyear Bluestreak tires from the late 60's.............................they will be reproduced by Kelsey Tire. They have given me permission to make a brief comment here on the Discussion Board, but I will respectfully let them make the formal announcement and display their product when available, real soon. I contacted them a couple of years ago to gauge the interest for reproducing this 60's performance street tire in hopes that they would consider it. I sent them one of my original tires and after much discussion and consideration, they decided to pursue reproducing the tire. The set on my 67 (on original 15 X 6 American Racing Torque Thrust D-spoke real magnesium wheels) is one of the first runs of their project and they are absolutely beautiful, identical to my original tire, except obviously much better. I'm sure you've seen these tires (originals, probably worn out and dry rotted) displayed on a variety of rare Corvettes and other muscle cars. Thanks to Kelsey Tire for a job well done making this a reality.

John Kelsey has been a great supporter of our restoration efforts. When I was Team Leader I had the pleasure of working with him on the Speedway F 70 x 15s for the early C3s. He was dedicated to "getting it right." A fine gentleman also.

Those blue streaks are way cool.

Saw them on display in LV @ SEMA in Nov '10. Seemed a little pricy at $1200 a set.

Back in the late 50's/early 60's. the Goodyear Double Eagle was one of the street tires of choice we used in drag racing. We were allowed 2 sizes over, and we would make a special effort to wear the treads nearly flat which was the way they worked the best. Not pretty, but they would bite.

These "Blue Streaks" are nice looking tires and I'm sure they will appeal to other owners whether they were originally available for their year Vettes or not. And I'd be one of them.

Wish more vendors would get it right instead of selling inferior parts. Now if they would just reproduce the 5 1/2 X 15 C1 wheels and little hubcaps. I am sure there are a whole lot of wants and needs.

There are those in the hobby that are doing a pretty good job with the wheels.

Are they bias or radial ply?

The Goodyear Blue Streaks are bias ply tires. At the time the originals were manufactured, I don't think Goodyear was even manufacturing any radial ply tires.

I would expect them to be costly. I cannot imagine that they will sell a huge number of these so the cost to tool up and stock these from a short manufacturing run does not bode well for keeping the price down. However, even the Kelsey reproduction Goodyear Speedway Wide Tread tires used for 68-72 Corvettes are not that much less expensive than these.

Just so no one gets the wrong idea, while these tires might be very attractive, they were NEVER originally installed on any PRODUCTION Corvette. They may have been used on some Cobras and Mustang GT-350's but NEVER on a Corvette.

Never used on Cobras or GT350's either. They used the Blue Dot Goodyear's. Kelsey makes those in the 7.75 x 15 also. The 1966 GT350's also used a Blue Streak in a 6.95 x 14, but it did not have the blue sidewall. Kelsey makes those too!

Oh, these new Blue Streaks look really nice-especially on those Americans and on that '67 Coupe! Thanks for the pictures and the post.
