Different length PG kickdown for 2x4?

For a 1956, are the PG kickdown rods that attach to the carb different lengths for the 1x4 carb setup vs. the 2x4 setup?

When I try to attach mine (1x4), just for it to fit the have to let out adjust on the end to almost it's last thread on the shaft. Even then it doesn't seem like the kickdown has all the freedom of movement that it should.

I'm thinking maybe I have a 2x4 kickdown rod that is meant to attach to a rear carb or something...

    Thanks!

    Alex -

Yes, they're different between the 1x4 and the 2x4 - they have to be. Look in the RPO 313 (Powerglide) section of your Assembly Manual, on sheet 5.00 - it shows P/N 3722022 for the carb kickdown rod, which is for the base 1x4 condition.

Now go to the RPO469 (2x4) section, on sheet 2.00, upper right illustration for RPO 313, and it shows kickdown rod P/N 3728693.

Ok, thanks for the confirmation! Now I'll have to figure out who repros the 1x4 rods for 55-56 kickdowns.

Anyone know the measured length of one vs. the other so I can have the vendors measure before I order?

      Thanks!

Alex, the rod you are looking for is on every 56 Chevy with a 4 bbl carb and a powerglide. Check Ebay for 56 Chevy carb / powerglide linkage.

I have that rod on my 56 BelAir (4 bbl, powerglide) for comparison purposes. No, it is not for sale.

Here you go..$24 at Ecklers Classic Chevy

Perfect, dang I keep forgetting it's a chevy pass car part

Mine must be wrong, it's longer than the one shown for the 2x4 but it's completely straight.
