    The bracket may be shown on some obscure AM drawing that I have not come across yet. However, since my car will be judged at the Texas Regional in October and the 1958 - 1960 Technical info Manual and Judging Guide references it, I am going to install it. Page 78, "Forward end of starter housing is supported to engine block with a metal brace on cars equipped with PG transmission only."

    We have probably beat this horse to death, but thanks for the lively discussion.
