Dan, just sent you a PM with more. Since this is a corvette forum, we can address mustangs outside of this.

Re: What are you working on right now?

My shorter term project is to put most of the original parts back on my 70 LT-1. I have had the car since 1972, but I put a few parts on to drag race with my Corvette buddies in the 80's. NCRS actually had a drag race at Maple Grove as part of the 1988 National Convention, and this car had fastest time of the day with a 12.6 , 114 mph. This was before the new Corvettes got so fast. I want to remove the line lock, the stiff clutch, the 7 leaf spring, the wide ratio transmission, and the L-88 hood, and put the stock parts back on. The car came with a 4.11 rear, but I got sick of it about 1973 when I was still a young man. I still have the 4.11 (with less than 10,000 miles), but I'll keep the 3.55 I put in almost 40 years. Likewise, I still like the 1976 aluminum wheels more the the originals.

I'm going to put the LT-1 engine back together, but I think I'll keep using detuned ZL-1 (out of a 69 Camaro) that has been in it for almost 30 years. It will need an LS-6 manifold to fit under the hood, and maybe I'll strip the orange paint off the block.

My long term project is this 67 L-71 convertible. It is a Canada car with all the documentation. I removed the wheel flares about 20 years ago, restored the chassis and put it in storage. Now, it's time to do the engine, and complete the chassis. I have the real original block, heads, manifold and carbs, but I am strongly tempted to use some 67 L-89 heads I have. After, the chassis is running, I hope to have Zane Finney do the body.

Probably the "wrong" Forum to mention this, but I'm finishing up the installation of a Chevy WC T5 in my '66. Need to finish fabrication of the transmission mount - and I hope to have it completed in 3-4 weeks.

Re: What are you working on right now?

The number one thing I've been working on for the past few months has been getting rid of my boat. That done, now I will have more time and money (in theory) to spend on these four projects which I have had for the past 20 some years. Only one is road worthy. #1, The 64 327/300 Vette conv. red/black, AIR, Powerglide, PS. 2 tops. I'm the 15th owner. #2, This one will be running after I return from the "Dream Cruise" in Sept. A 66 Vette L72 red/red coupe 17 options some added. A new Dewitt Direct fit radiator is on the way for this one. #3, This one is on my rotisserie, 74 SD455 Firebird Formula maroon/white 29 factory options. Original engine .030 over rebuild, not run yet. #4, This one is on top of a four post lift, & hasn't received any attention recently, 69 triple black RAIII GTO conv, 20 factory & 15 added options, looking for owner history from the original sale (summer of 69) at Royal Pontiac in Detroit area until late 1972. Any "Woodward Dream Cruise" old guys remember this one? PM me!!

Re: What are you working on right now?

I am a retired guy that does a bit of restoration work. Right now I am working on a '57 Tbird that is about ready to paint (we have painted the bottom); a '63 Corvair that we have stripped; and a '61 Desoto that is finished but had to have one little touch up. The Desoto is rare, one of 900 or so produced in the last year of Desoto production. Many hours in the Desoto-exceeding 1500. Some photos follow and also show the '65 Corvette Coupe that I recently bought.

Re: What are you working on right now?

What a great thread concept. Fun seeing all the projects.

For me, I'm accumulating parts at the moment, waiting to finish building a new garage to work in. I have a 1970 LS-5 in need of restoration, and while I can't wait to get started, I can't wait to get finished too. I've never driven a BB and really want to give it a spin.

This car hasn't run in 24 years and has both a good set of original parts and is missing parts (like someone robbed it of the more easily-removed stuff, which also happens to be some of the more expensive stuff).

I'm also really trying to research finishes and how the car should be properly restored. The recent postings on chroming were eye-opening, for example. Can't just go out and have somebody rechrome the bumpers. They're clearly original (and wavy to prove it). So easy to destroy something original by sheer ignorance, and I'm way low on the learning curve (even though I've owned Corvettes for 30 years).

                        Anyway, thanks for asking.

I'm trying to fix the driver's side vent window regulator on my '67. I'm waiting on parts, but the big problem is that "Bubba" was in there before me and really screwed it up.
