    Re: Original Stamp pad????

Wouldn't it make sense to look at the other data that shold be available on the block, such as the engine code that is the last 2 letters on the stamp pad (illegible in the photo)? Do they agree with the claimed HP of the car? Does the date code on the stamp pad fall within the 6 months prior to the build date on the VIN plate? Does the block casting date fall within 6 months prior to the build date on the VIN plate? Is it a correct casting number on the block?

Yes it does Doug. The last letters are HT=350HP. The stamp pad date code is Dec 15. Vin plate Date is Dec 16. Block casting number is 3858174= 327ci 1966. Head numbers are 3782461=327ci 300/350hp.

            Shane,
What are the casting dates of all those components and more?

Look at the car as a whole - not just the engine pad.

            Block casting date is _?_
            Head casting date is_?_
            L Head casting date
            intake casting date
            water pump casting date
muncie casting dates and P dates
            differential date
dates on the alternaotr, starter, distributor
            dates on the glass
            headlamp motor dates
            these are the easy ones

After all this time - did you buy the car?

              Re: Original Stamp pad????

              Havent bought it yet.

              block date is Dec 14
              LH Head is Oct 19
              RH Head is Oct 21

By the pics I cant tell if the last number on the block and heads are a 6 or a 5? If its a 5 that would be 1965 and that would be bad right.

              Sorry just new to this.

                Shane,

It sounds to me like the engine and the car was built in December 1965. So all the factory parts should be from 65.

Ok. I think i'm looking into this too much and confusing myself LOL.

                  VIN# 6S109592
                  Stamp pad - 6109592 FI2I5HT = Flint, Dec 15, 350 HP/MT
                  Trim Tag - E-16 = Dec 16
                  Block - 3858174 = 327Ci L145 = Dec 14, 1965
                  Head LH - 3782461 = 327ci 300hp/350hp J195 = Dec 19,1965
                  Head RH - 3782461 = 327ci 300hp/350hp J215 = Dec 21, 1965
Tranny - has VIN stamp 6S109592
                  Main case - 3857584
                  Ext housing casting - 3885010
I dont have the date # for the tranny

                  Diff/Rear Axle - AO 12 1465 = posi 3.70 Dec 14, 1965

So far these are the only numbers and dates I have.

Try it now. I had installed a new version on Photoshop and did not notice the image size was set to cm rather than inches. Seven cm is not the same as seven inches

That's why everything is bigger up here in the GWN- it's all in CM.
