My 1966 Chev. 283 swivel (GM # 3758592) is identical to my 1966 Corvette swivel with the single groove. In the same box I found a package of 2 NOS 3892880 swivels that were used on the 1967 Corvette. They each measure 1.08" in O.L. with the 0.42" dia. section measuring about 0.44" in length and the 0.25" dia. section measuring 0.64" in length. These dimensions are slightly different when compared to the 3758592 swivel.

The 3892880 swivels also have 2 grooves spaced about 0.12" apart in the center of the 0.42" dia. section and the coating is black (photo below).

I see a lot of restored 63-66 cars with the 3892880 black swivel with two grooves.

The 3758592 swivel was discontinued in April 1967 and replaced by the 3892880 swivel as per Chevrolet Parts History.

In the AIM the date change was 11/14/66.

Story: GM made a one that fits all accelerator rod. It was a couple of feet long and 3/4 of it was threaded. Had a 90 degree end. So you bought it and bent it to shape and cut it off. End result was no cigar. John

I still have a NORS rod in a GM wrapper that I bought back in the 1980's. The part number has worn off the GM plastic wrapper. The rod has a 90 degree bend on one end and measures 13 5/8" O.L. with a threaded length of 10 3/8".

Thanks Joe. That has to be the number as it is listed in my 1982 Corvette Parts Catalog (Nov. 1981) for 1955-1965 Corvettes (exc. 396, F.I.). for $2.20 list price. I guess that I bought it because the price was so low and I wanted to see what it looked like. The 3880168 rod for 66-67 Corvettes was still available at that time for only $1.95 list price and that is the one currently on my car.
