Were you at Carlisle Corvettes 2011? Need your Help!

I am one of the owners who owns a 62 Vette who was poorly taken care of by Corvette Restoration AZ in Tempe, AZ. Madsen LLC declared Bankruptcy in early August 2011. No owners were notified of the Bankruptcy filing and it was not until this past weekend, 24 Sep 2011, that the Vette Owners were allowed by the Trustee to come get our cars. When I turned my Vette over for a full frame off restoration, I provided a detailed list of parts associated with my Vette, and confirming its originality. I also took quality photos of my Vette for proof. (Note: Money was paid for upfront) This past weekend, when I picked up my Vette, several high dollar original parts were not located by the Trustee; such items as the soft top frame, and soft top, original seats, brake cylinder, all four wheels, dash board, starter, hub caps with spinners and other parts were not to be found. In talking with other Vette owners, it has been noted that Corvette Arizona AZ was present at Carlisle this past Aug 2011, even after they filed for Bankruptcy. IF anyone has knowledge of and or photos of the booth the Corvette Restoration AZ was working out of, and or names of the individuals whom were present at Carlisle, please respond with this type of information.

    Thank you.

I hope none of you Corvette Owners ever have to go through what I and 19 other Vette Owners are going through.

Usually, he Carlisle program will have a listing of all the vendors present. I'm surprised, though, that the firm involved would be doing business at Carlisle under they're real name. Of course, they could have registered before their collapse.

The kind of situation you describe often has its roots in "sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll".

Bruce Shaw might be a good one for a case like this. www.shawlaws.com

By the way, Bruce once taught me a lot about rebuilding a Muncie 4 speed.

Far more accurately described as the loss of a battle against cancer..... if you don't have a clue, for god's sake keep your totally uninformed opinons to yourself.....it's tough enough the way it is.

The vendor listing for "Corvette Restoration" lists the location as "Virginia Beach, VA"; somehow I DOUBT that it is the one from Arizona - not to mention the fact that this sort of off-the-wall accusation doesn't do the VA group much justice, either.

It's always tragic to lose someone to cancer or, for that matter, any other ailment. However, such a loss has nothing to do with the sort of things that have been described here. In fact, I'd less expect it with cancer than with, say, a sudden death due to a heart attack.

My long-time independent mechanic (and FRIEND) I use for certain things on my driver cars very recently died of cancer. His shop continued operating and treating people fairly and honestly all the while he was in treatment and even after he passed away. No customer lost their car or lost any of the parts thereof. Someone dying of cancer does not thereby lose their integrity. Folks dying of cancer (or anything else) do not remove or allow others to remove parts that don't belong to them from their place of business. Folks dying of cancer (or any other longer-term ailment) make arrangements to wind down their business and make certain that all property entrusted to them is returned to the owners of such property.

Also, if you will note, I did NOT WRITE that the operation to which you refer suffered from the "malady" I described. I simply said such a situation ....OFTEN HAS ITS ROOTS.... I stand by that statement, whether, or not, it applies in this case.

              Loren,

I am not trying to accuse anyone. I have been told by other members who were at Carlisle and they saw Corvette Restoration Arizona (AZ) at the Corvette Carlisle Aug 2011. I even talked with the Carlisle Vendors Office who confirmed the AZ folks were present. I am trying to find out if anyone has more specific information.

The Virginia (VA) folks were not even mentioned. No need to bring them into this.

              Respectfully,
              Ihor

just checked the corvette at carlisle vendor list in the catalog they passed out for 2011.
No mention of Corvette Restoration from AZ. Only the one from VA.

                  Thanks Ken,

I was informed that the Company was listed as Madsen LLC out of Arizona. Which is the working name of Corvette Restoration AZ out of Tempe, AZ. Just trying to gather facts for the attorney.

One member mentioned she spoke with the company while at Carlisle.

Another member just notified be the same company has been doing business on Ebay Motors selling parts from the shop. The name they have been using is PackzRat.

                  Thanks again.

Yes, how anyone could get a Corvette restoration shop in Virginia, regardless of their name, confused with one in Arizona is completely beyond me. There are many Corvette shops and parts businesses in the US with the same name.

Corvette Carlisle vendors lists shows "Masden, Kim, (from) Tempe AZ, at sites B51-52 and C54-61". Map shows these as located in the first block/row of sites to the west of the food court, if anyone recalls.

Thanks for all the help. I figured it would be a hard task to verify, let alone track down the people at Carlisle selling parts from the shady unreputable company from Madsen LLC. I was fortunate to get 85% of my original Vette back. I hope the thieves who took my parts pay their dues. Again, thank to all who tried to help me.

One last thread. Here is what I saw when I walked into the shop to get my Vette. And I, like several other Vette owners paid good money up front.

Paying in advance is a bad way to do business for something like this.

Are you properly insured?? The next stop to me would be my insurance Company. Make a detailed list of your loss and go from there. I am guessing your parts are long gone (sorry to say, but probable). This is what insurance is for. Doubt you or your attorney will be able to get blood from a stone. Sorry for your loss, it stinks! Dan
