Re: Judge my engine bay ....I can take it....

    Thanks Chris,

I do not know if I can do all.....but it gives me a good road map..........my goal .....when someone in Europe opens my hood, all the major parts will be correct....the right colors....etc...over time I will continue to add correctness as long as reliability is not compromised...

I should have a new picture of my progress in a few days.......waiting for the paint to dry

          Hi Chris ,

I am making progress and should have a new photo to look at by end of week....waiting for clamps to come in.

If you are some one else has a few photos of a correct 66 L79 engine compartment , and could post them here, that would be great...

When I was at the Novi convention, I was not able to photo any of the top cars because of hoods being down and car locked at the times I was there.

If you have one with air cleaner on and off that would be great. Photos in JM are not very clear...

Sorry Jack, I only have 67 L79s. I think there are some differences. Wouldn't want to steer you wrong.

              Hi,

Here are some updated pictures of my task of making the engine compartment look more like it did when I bought the car 42 years ago Forget the french locks, put one on and realized why I took them off.

Nice job Jack, Big difference in the before and after pic.s, what would really make it would be a air cleaner lid. maybe a repro. it may just be me, I am a bit OCD. Ed

I know , but it is the original air lid, with the silk screen... been on the car with wing nut for 46 years........ The repro's are not made the same.....I may have it chromed, but I would lose the silk screen,, or I may buy a repro just for looks....... hard to replace a part just for looks........

Re: Judge my engine bay ....I can take it....

I just got my air cleaner back from metal finisher. He did what he could to get it into shape. 46 years of driving took its toll.

It is re-chromed ,but the pitting was so deep he could not get it all out. Just the same, it is the cover that the car was born with. He was able to save the silk screen on the underside.

No over spray, but I think it is mechanically correct now. Here are some pictures. Decals go on later.....
